At  work,  I must use a VM with Windows. My window manager in Linux is
  dwm which uses the Windows key (or "Super_L")  as  modifier.  See  the
  problem?  Whenever I want to switch to another dwm tag, the start menu
  opens in my Windows VM. Very annoying.

  I now have disabled that key completely inside of Windows. Here's how:
