       # 2025-09-03 - White Supremacy In Southern Oregon
       
       This morning i downloaded an archived radio interview on my to-listen
       list.  The common thread in this interview was the amount of support
       for white nationalism from the community in general and also from
       local law enforcement.  Another thread calls attention to a pattern
       where hate groups move their targets.  The targets change but the
       hate remains the same.

       What follows are a few of my own thoughts.
       
       You can find a lot of swastica graffiti around Grants Pass.  I know
       someone who bought blue spray paint to transform them into the blue
       square hashtag.

       Personally, i place more weight on actions than on symbols.
       
       Recently i read how when the Nazis took over the Netherlands, the
       Jewish population was thoroughly integrated through mixed marriages.
       Dutch people demonstrated and wore armbands in solidarity.  Still,
       107,000 out of 140,000 Dutch Jews were deported to meet Nazi quotas.
       
       In comparison, the French Jewish population was less integrated and
       France did not have so many public demonstrations.  Out of an
       estimated 350,000 French Jews, 85,000 were deported.  This smaller
       proportion was attributed to a combination of France being less
       automated, plus covert resistance within the French government.
