------------------------------------------------------------ Technology/Pubnix, (sdf.org), 07/30/2018 ------------------------------------------------------------ User yargo said[1]: "In view of redundancy, we not only need alternatives to the corporate walled gardens, but for "underground/hacker" sites as well." SDF gets a lot of participation, but it's hard to get participation on some of the other systems out there (grex.org, polarhome.com, cyber1, to name a few.) Maybe those other systems don't meet enough needs, maybe they're too obscure, or maybe people don't have time for them. I don't know why things are the way they are. There was a small discussion on SDF's bboard recently about this very thing. If SDF's smj gets hit by a bus (God forbid), what do all of us do? We love the system, we love the services, we love *nix. I hope the pubnix world keeps growing, instead of dwindling. I hope more servers pop up, and more users decided to use them. It's a boatload of fun.
