April 17th, 2018: Got a delivery notice in my mailbox yesterday - my Peugeot bike has arrived and is awaiting pickup at my local post office! Woohoo! Here's hoping we can get there before they close at 6pm... Last night, I received my package from Velo-Orange [1], a bike shop I like online. I'd ordered a set of pedals for my road bike, along with matching toe clips, leather straps, and strap buttons. My aim is to get this bike finished in the next couple of weeks, and I'm almost there. It's just a matter of installing the saddle, bar tape, pedals, bottle cage, frame mounted pump, and adjusting. My road bike (aka Cornelius) is a mid-70s vintage Centurion road bike, a middle-of-the-road brand aimed at the upper end of the entry-level market. Cornelius is purely a pleasure bike, more of a fair-weather hot-rod than a daily driver. As such, it'll have no fenders or pannier racks. It's meant for *RIDING*, not hauling, so I'll use it on sunny days when I want to turn my mind off and burn a bit of rubber. Tonight's task will be to give Amandine (the Peugeot) a once-over, to see if anything needs adjusting, fixing, or replacing, then taking her for a test drive. À bientôt!
