Stupefied, sweating a little in the late-summer heat, she stopped within a narrow oblong of light cast out onto the footpath from a place still open. A medical centre. No. That was the sign for next door. This was a gallery: a narrow room three or four metres wide at most but which stretched back double that length from the street. Lit up but devoid of people. Closed.
