The trains, when she could successfully navigate city central and board them, travelled faster and further out. Between here and there they passed through oddly quiet districts, places with no traffic and no people out on the streets, and terrace houses whose porches were piled with garbage and mouldy furniture, front entrances missing doors, unlit in the early evening light. The train did not stop at the vacant, decrepit platforms. It went by too fast for her to even catch the station names.
