It can be done wonderfully in a window with a wee few pots and a literal liberal handful of soil... oh, and some seeds, of course. (unless you can geat some starts from a friend... oh joy!) No need for toxic chemicals or gimmicky fertilizers, either. Literally let Nature take its course. Then there is the outside kitchen garden, which can be realized either on a balcony or in the aforementioned "yard" (I am quoting that from here on out because a "yard" is a rather subjective and varied concept) So, if you have a sunny window or a wide open walkway, place plenty of pots in, on and around them, and stuff those pots all full of herbs and other small veggie frens. Above all... do not get discouraged if things go south. It's all a learning process. The important thing is that you are now paying attention to a wider section of your local "Nature"
