I figured out why I coudn't get a gophermap file to appear. It was file permissions!
Pretty obvious in retrospect, need to allow "others" to view the file if you want them to see it...

I've created a few simple scripts locally on my own computer to help make gopher phlog posts, and 
one of these even includes a line to change the file permissions.

Still can't figure how to get external web links to work though, but that might be because
the 'gopher' program on my computer tries to open these in lynx? It's parsing the url wrong
