MOTHER'S DAY

It was Mother's Day today here in France. I made sure my son gave
his mom gifts. I took him aside in his room, while she was in the
living room. I told him quietly, like a secret, that it was Mo-
ther's Day and that he was going to give her a nice surprise. So
I gave him a bouquet of white roses and a small gift package. He
was all smiles as he walked back into the living room to his mom,
his little arms laden. He is three years old, so it is actually
the very first time he has consciously celebrated his mother.
Both were very happy. And so was I.
