============================================================================== Title: Amplifiers and pi-hole Date: 12-03-2021 ============================================================================== In about two months I will move to another house. Pretty exciting, at least because I'll have more space. I've decided to bring with me my passive audio monitor speakers but I actually haven't got an amplifier - the one I used to work with it's my father's propriety. So during these days I'm looking for a *cheap* practical audio amplifier. I'd love a Yamaha device, but it's definitively out of my budget. It'd not be bad to find one with bluetooth. I believe I'll go with a cheap-made-in-China model on Amazon for about 80$. A good alternative would be to find something in a thrift store but it seems that starting from monday all "non essential" shops will be closed. Right now I'm setting up a little dhcp/dns server on a Dell FX170 runnig my beloved Debian. That cute machine is a very valuable alternative to a raspberry pi: you can find it on ebay for a few euros, the technical specs are not bad at all, it also has a *huge* passive heatsink that makes it much colder than the new pi 4. If you don't already know it, google "pi hole" - that's a very smart solution to get rid of advertising in an organic way. No more adblock on each computer. You will also have a fancy dashboard to set your dns/dhcp preferences. Furthermore you can find some pretty statistics on what's happening on your local network (mostly dns requests).
