My brother and I dropped out of the dentist's records 3 years ago. Everything mentioning us, all of our x-rays and dental info was lost. For three years we avoided it and let the plaque build up on our teeth. A lot can change in 3 years. The dentist is my least favorite place in the world. The young woman at the desk had nice eyes and wore socks with flames on them. She explained to me with hurried gestures what had happened. "Korenby died. We put his data and his personality inside the computer." She slapped the small computer case on the desk with her ringed hand. "He still runs the business end from inside, while Kyle handles all the appointments and things like that." She paused to chew on the damp ends of her brown hair that dangled in front of her face. "Kyle?" I asked. "Yeah, yeah. He's right back there." She pointed me down the hall. I walked through the narrow hallway. There was a small chest on the right that I remembered getting toys from as a kid. I used to love those sticky hands that left maks on the walls when I whipped it around over my head. When I walked into the dentist's room he was fidgeting with a bunch of shiny, metallic tools. He quickly dropped everything and extended his hand to me after wiping it on his shirt. "Hi, I'm Kyle." "I'm Ross, an old patient of Korenby's." I said. "Oh, yes" He laughed. "I'm truly sorry if there were any problems because of the mix-up. It was quite a hassle to get him out of his body, what with all the restrictions on software these days. But we have that worked out now." He pulled some latex gloves onto his hands and beamed. "Now, let's get started, shall we?" He motioned me to the chair. I laid back into the chair. He positioned my arms by my sides and bound them to the chair with tough straps, leaving my inner arm exposed. "This is Twilight. It will shield you from the hurt." He stuck a needle in my left arm. It felt cold. I felt cold. I felt my nerves calm and my body go numb. My head felt hollow. "Now, open your mouth, please.." I complied. Sconds later, tiny explosions went off in my mouth, an excavation of the oral cavity. My gums were on fire and the roof of my mouth became a blur of crackles and pops.
