# Old Family Photos - alfred's Gemini capsule One of the more rewarding long-term hobby projects I've worked on was scanning family photos. These included prints, negatives, and slides passed down to me by parents, grandparents, and other relatives. Rescuing the images before further deterioration (and restoring them as best I could with photo editing tools), brought great satisfaction, and shored up the foundations of some long-term memories. I used a flatbed scanner that came with plastic trays that held and positioned slides and negatives on the platen. To scan several thousand images, one must simply chip away at it, setting a reasonable daily quota (e.g., 2-3 dozen). => gemlog.gmi Back to Gemlog contents Last edited: 2025-11-12
