Two Days at my Desk
Forced to isolate in a corner of our giant apartment, I've spent the last 
two days just sitting at my desk working on gopher-y stuff. It's been kind
of nice, but I'm hoping to test negative by Thursday and get back to being
in Portugal. Still, being able to sit and focus on gopher and github and
alla that has really been a treat. 

For the past million years I've been just WAITING to have the time to
concentrate on projects. Now, I have to manage myself, because I have
an endless supply of things I want to work on. Primarily I want to get 
my writing done, get some books published. But along the way I have
a million other things: I want to organize my data stores; I want to review
my photography and produce some works; I want to organize my online footprint
and post my stuff on Smolnet sites; I want to work on gopher stuff; I want
to learn Portuguese; I want to get in better shape... and on and on and on.

If I insist that I focus only on writing, I'll be frustrated that I'm not
working on this other stuff. But if I don't limit the Other Stuff, then I
will die of old age before I ever focus on the writing. Ah, it's tough
being retired! But at least I'm not wasting 40-60 hours a week working
on some bullshit job before even touching any of these other interests.

So today was devoted to gopher and github. Tomorrow and Thursday will
be Portuguese. Then next week we've got a fun trip planned to a place
just 15 minutes away for Joy's birthday. 

Too much fun!
