Files on the DEC-10 have names that look like these: TEXT.RNO, STIX.FOR, NEWEST.
In general there may be 1 to 6 characters (letters or numbers) then a "." then
0 to 3 more characters.

The full file specification includes the disk name, the project-programmer
number and the protection for the file; example:  DSKB:NEATO.SIM[456,1042]<157>
Other examples: SYS:BACKUP.EXE          uses ersatz device
                MAN.NEW[342,45767,ABC]  in subfile directory ABC

The DIRECT command will display a list of all your file names.
