They can appear as an advisory board, as a workgroup, as a panel of directors, as a steering council, whatever. What is essential here, is a group of people who vote. Well, who think they are authorized to make decisions for others, and who make decisions by voting. Don't let committees appear. Never propose anything like that. If someone else proposes 'just to elect some people to make decisions', remind him/her that committees never do anything useful, they only do harm. If someone invites you to such a group, refuse firmly, and feel free to clearly state that you, personally, will never recognize any of their decisions. If, despite all the resistance, another committee appears, boycott them. No matter who are 'on board', and how great their achivements are. Committees, in any form, should be given no right to exist. none ---------------------------------------------------------------------- # Fri Dec 19 19:37:54 CET 2025 Trusting someone to vote for you feels wrong. So I kinda agree with `no committees` taboo. I insert `kinda` because there are fields of knowledge that I definitely lack and a committee may be useful... Food for further thought. /Jharedd P.S. Yea, I`ve seen their captcha :D Never seen anything like that before. Looks interesting. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- # Mon Dec 22 18:16:58 CET 2025 /006 - agreed Jharedd ---------------------------------------------------------------------- # Mon Dec 22 20:20:54 CET 2025 Unplugged speakers for several days and missing nothing. I am able to focus on whatever I am doing much longer now. I was listening music practically nonstop, I thought, feel that it helps to focus, but the opposite is truth. It was hard for me to read some long article or do one thing for a longer period. Now magicaly I do it without any issue naturally. Obviously I got extra time as youtube becomes irrelevant. none ---------------------------------------------------------------------- # Mon Dec 22 23:38:22 CET 2025 @none Good for you :) Shame I cannot turn off the basses of my neighbours or in cars that stop nearby. I rarely listen to music in background myself. Only when I specifically want to. /Jharedd ---------------------------------------------------------------------- # Fri Dec 26 01:05:38 CET 2025 How is this board set up? Script or app? Wonder if I can do something like this. Jharedd ---------------------------------------------------------------------- # Fri Dec 26 06:31:12 CET 2025 ; cat /usr/local/libexec/nps ====================================================================== #!/bin/sh board_file="/var/nex/000" temp_file="/tmp/board_input_$$" : > "$temp_file" while IFS= read -r line; do [ "$line" = "." ] && break printf '%s\n' "$line" >> "$temp_file" done if [ -s "$temp_file" ]; then { echo " ----------------------------------------------------------------------" echo "# $(date)" cat "$temp_file" } >> "$board_file" fi rm -f "$temp_file" printf 'We are done here. Text should be at none.rip/000 now.\n' exit 0 ====================================================================== It runs form inetd: 1915 stream tcp nowait nobody /usr/local/libexec/nps nps That's all, 1900 port - read is even shorter. This is kind of bare bone, the simple working version. It can grow to sky if there is some spam or messages have to be approved and so on, security and all that nonsense ;/ Like a pro ;/ none ---------------------------------------------------------------------- # Fri Dec 26 20:35:21 CET 2025 Nice, thanks :) Never seen expr like ```: > file``` before. Had my share of fun finding out about it. Jharedd ---------------------------------------------------------------------- # Fri Dec 26 22:02:52 CET 2025 I did this long time ago, used it just for short period before I went with Plan 9 gameplay ;/ There it was a bit better. On OpenBSD I used Perl script, it was a bit more robust. I just checked this, as I did not really recheck it after I jumped into Alpine again. It does not work as it should ;/ That tmp file should filter random bot crap and don't allow somehow writting one hour into this 000 file. So it should write to 000 only when everything ends with the dot on its own line. That bots don't do obviously. However currently it does not give a shit about it. Not really issue anyway, one entry in few days here and there is okay. Also you are probably only one reading it anyway ;/ none ---------------------------------------------------------------------- # Fri Dec 26 22:54:32 CET 2025 Maybe the line ```if [ -s "$temp_file" ]; then``` should be ```if [ -s "$temp_file" -a $(tail -n1 "$temp_file") == "." ]; then``` ? I`ve just tested it and it seems to work - skips messages that do not conform. Jharedd ---------------------------------------------------------------------- # Sun Dec 28 21:17:14 CET 2025 Too long line for my taste. But ye, something like that. Or not. none ---------------------------------------------------------------------- # Thu Jan 1 04:47:14 CET 2026 Happy New Year \(^_^)/ ---------------------------------------------------------------------- # Fri Jan 2 18:35:44 CET 2026 Don`t you think that all strongly recommended encryption algorithms have a backdoor? Jharedd ---------------------------------------------------------------------- # Fri Jan 2 20:15:39 CET 2026 No idea, everything is encrypted, I have no access to it ;/ It's just circus, so people have some work. There is definitely some reason why they force encryption so much. As always, it's not for your good, but their. none ---------------------------------------------------------------------- # Fri Jan 2 20:58:15 CET 2026 That`s what I thought. Just remembered their mantra: "Dont do your own encryption algorithms". Why? Coz you wont be able to read it? Jharedd
