F1 (REDO) For the Executive

While in the Executive, commands executed by depressing the GO key can be reexecuted by pressing F1 (REDO).

Commands executed by pressing a 'ShiftedGO' key CAN NOT be reexecuted by pressing F1 (REDO), as they are not remembered.

Disabling Screen Pause feature

When Screen Pause is enabled 'Press NEXT PAGE or SCROLL UP to continue' is displayed when one screen of data is displayed and more data remains to be displayed. You must depress the Next Page or Scrool Up key to display the next screen or next line of data.

To disable Screen Pause, without exiting the program you are running, press 'CodeNext Page'. This will disable the screen pause feature.

To reenable Screen Pause you must use the Screen Setup command.

Turning off the Video Display

The Video Display can be made to blank out after a fixed period of keyboard inactivity. This can be accomplished by specifying the time limit, in minutes, in the 'Screen Timeout' field of the Screen Setup command.

The screen can also be blanked any time it is desired by depressing 'ACTIONOver Type'.

If the screen is blank, because of any of the above actions, depressing any key (such as the shift key) will restore the video display.

Discarding the type ahead keyboard buffer

The keyboard buffer, on the B20 series, will hold 128 characters. Depressing 'ACTIONDelete' causes the system to ignore any keyboard characters in its keyboard buffer that are not yet processed.

Entering keyboard characters literally into the Executive

In the Executive, if you depress the backslash key (\) the next key depressed will be taken literally. This means that nontypewriter and nonnumeric keypad keyboard keys may be entered as Executive command parameters. To enter a backslash in the Executive you must type '\\'.

Entering Passwords in Executive command forms

You may enter a password in a command form that is different from your default password by using the caret key and then the password. The Executive will echo pound signs and not the actual password. If you type this file specification [sys]<sys>MyProg.Run^xyzzy, the Executive will echo [sys]<sys>MyProg.Run^.
