It is now widely reported that Apple's Steve "It's only a hormone
imbalance" Jobs got himself a new alcohol filter in the state of
Tennessee, where the waiting list is less than two months
(compared with over 10 months at the national average). To be
fair to the secretive Apple executive, who apparently has been
consulted by Dick Cheney as an expert in highly effective bunkers
and hiding places, the liver in question was undoubtedly placed
due to his recent brush with pancreatic malignancy and not booze
(the full details of which are still not known), and he was at
the top of the list medically and not by any known, uh, offer of
       privilege.

I am therefore proud to state that I have done my part in
Steve-O's recovery, which was probably facilitated in part by
medical equipment with PowerPC chips in them, with my recent
purchase at the confiscatory "early upgrade" rate ($499) of a
32GB iPhone 3GS. And while I am a Mac fan but not an Apple fan,
because Apple can be wildly erratic, I am very pleased with it
even at this kidneystone of a price. It is amazingly fast and the
video is nice, and 32GB is tasty. I do guiltily admit I own so
far one of each iPhone generation (this is them) and upgraded
each time the next generation came out, but I think I might wait
for awhile before the "iPhone 3GT" because I'm going to have to
pass another credit stone getting a new laptop next year.

Incidentally, I noticed while doing the arrangement for the photo
that the boxes have consistently shrunk in thickness each
generation. The 8GB original iPhone box is a fatty compared with
the medium 3G and svelte 3GS's, meaning the 4G's package will
probably be around the thickness of an obese piece of paper.
