The 23.1 MB download (1.4 GB if downloaded via iTunes), improves iBeacon 'connectivity and stability,' fixes data transfer for some third-party accessories (like bar code scanners), and corrects issues with the data protection of Mail attachments. iOS 7.1.2 includes a number of [1]security improvements, including an update to the certificate trust policy, a fix for an issue that could cause the device to restart unexpectedly, corrections for Activation Lock bypasses, and solutions to a number of issues that could allow arbitrary code execution. Apple also updated the second- and third-generation Apple TV to version 6.1.2, with its own set of [2]security updates to prevent insufficiently authorized iTunes Store purchases, unexpected restarts, memory being disclosed to an attacker, and the ubiquitous arbitrary code execution.
