Firstly I'd like to apologise for the lack of any meaningful
updates or response from myself on this FORUM

Unfortunate health
issues took all of my focus until a returning home a couple of
days ago, so sorry about that:)
I would like to mention that I've been, over the last few days,
focused on addressing comments on the FORUM

that have been
flagged for moderation due to complaints.
For those who have not regularly read updated posts on the
forum, this may be a time to make a cup of tea, grab a BISCUIT

nice it is TO BE NICE to other people on the site. I'd really

It has become very apparent to not just myself, but other
members of this forum that there are a "number" of INFLAMMATORY

the site admin, namely me, due to the possibilities of LIBEL

You may be aware the term libel relates to the written

doesn't take all reasonable steps to remove such content under

I have exhaustively spent many hours addressing the complaints
addressed to me via moderation. PLEASE PLEASE know I WILL and
WANT to respond to every moderation issue, and any PM email or
post submitted as I want people of all ages to feel free to read
anything here. I will ALWAYS respond to any contact I assure
you.
It would appear that this forum, which I hoped to get full,
packed of helpful info, general facts and oppportunities to
comment on anything, especiaslly about the RETRO COMPUTING

time, is also being
a location for posts and arguments that are not suitable for a
retro games fan page. (I'm being polite)..
My concern is doing right by all people, on both sides of the
fence so to speak, whatever view you have on anything. A post
cannot be removed, without proper justification, only because it
isn't the view of person or group. If any post adheres to the
rules of the forum, and the laws of the country where it is
read/viewed, then everyone should be allowed their point of
view. An administrator is in as much trouble for allowing a
certain comment, as removing a comment or post. We ALL like a
good debate, but we all have to appreciate boundries, legal and
moral.
I will state that the posts of a number of people on this forum
show a great deal more knowledge than the majority of "Spectrum
Fans" who signed up. There appears to be issues with a number of
individuals which is spilling out onto the posts, putting
genuine fans off from commenting, and are as confused as I am.
As a final aside, I would like to state that those persons who
are not genuine fans of the Spectrum and wanting to just have
fun communicating together, should find a different forum than a
fan site. I really do not want to be spending all of my
available time dealing with moderation issues when I should be
giving members information and things to read and be involved
in!
This may be déjàvu to some, and I am the one who sincerely hopes
not to repeat the record.
I envisage a place to come and chat, look at the times post for
when people are mainly on chat, or create your own post to say
you're dropping in later for a chat. I apoloigise that I've not
had time available to update the site due to addressing "other"
issues, but I will be updating constantly from now on. Please
throw your thoughts comments and ideas, because as soon as we
hold the console we're all going to want to share our thoughts!

First of all, I am very glad you are feeling better. Your health
is paramount, if you see that you cannot deal with the forum
please do let me know I'll be delighted to help.
Second: I am 100% behind you in the subject, this is not the
place to express complains about RCL and or other members of
this forum or RCL's! You are quite right, when you start reading
some of the post you are inmmediately put off to post anything
of meaning, since they will ignore it just to read the gossip
column they created and keep fueling. Regrettable to say the
least.
I am sorry they have taken the fruit of your effort as a mean
for that kind of behavior. I'm sure you've read my posts, I've
been trying to inject some sense in these people but it seems
that I'm "bossing" them around; which, obviously, it is not my
intention, go figure.

I feel quite sad, that good idea and effort of this spectrum
enthusiastic guy Milinks is quite destroyed by undemocracy
behaviour and breaking T&Cs of some guys from company /I will
not mentioned the name/. It is sad. A lot of speccy community is
leaving it as even not well informative ones now realized what
is going on and walk away from it. See you all and bye on some
better project.

Hallo Javier,
I will give you one example. I never listen to gossips/rumors.
Problem is, that some of them changed to facts already and it is
very hard to ignore it and I changed my mind under the load of
facts only. You are high educated guy/like me, btw/ and I am
sure, you can find the true and make your opinion. Honestly, all

Hi Mark
You have put in some sterling work in the face of your health
issues and should be commended for this, also to try and provide
such a space at a time when there is major disruptions and
division in the zx community is brave. I humbly acknowledge
that.
However given this forum came about from one of the major
sources of the current divisions, it can't be a surprise that
some of that discussion came with it. Also as there is few
places to have a frank and open discussion away from the risk of
deletion and mis-information I think every place this can occur
it will. That doesn't mean these discussions need to be
antagonistic, derisery or offend anyone in any way. But they do
need to occur, only through a frank and open discussion where
each respect opinions and views can a solution and hopefully
some healing to the community occur. At the moment the Indiegogo
site is not the place for this as it's now a centre for abuse.
Now, about this community that's so often referenced, there are
many many forums on the subject of the zx range, spectrum, basic
and all other early home PCs, and I think to setup another is a
real challenge, so again well done for achieving this. But I
thnk your health really needs to be paramount so if at any time
you feel this site is proving too much or you feel you can't
give it what I know you would want to, don't feel that you would
letting anyone down. I am sure there are several people hear who
would be only too willing to help out, responding to support
questions, managing the site admin and providing unbiased
responses. So please if would help just ask, or just know it's
an offer already.
I do think this forum has a place as it is independent of biased
views, not so say those posting don't have a biased view, but
that's healthy, what is needed is those in control of the power
of delete need to remain unbiased and allow free open discussion
until it crosses obvious lines. This is how we heal the
community and bring peace and love to all mankind.... sorry I
went too far! :)

discussion on the Vega+ from all avenues (and of course the
Spectrum itself :) )

I may have misunderstood you, but the reason I decided to create
this was to discuss the Vega+ in general, AND also chat about
the Indiegogo campaign. That's the reason I included the

have no problem with someone using that thread to say "you know
what, I'm p**sed off with this because.." or "This needs
addresssing, I've not heard about..."
There are at least two sides to every story or event. The
reality of what happened was, that pretty much every thread was
then sent posts that not only breached the forum rules (which
are a generic set of rules, and not set up by myself). The main
issue with some of the posts were that they were personal,
insulting provocative statements that were not backed up with
fact, and the forum was being used as a general slanging match.
Some posts were put on threads not relevant (it seemed so that
they would not be as quickly picked up on). It became apparent
that a number of posts were put on to provoke, not a general or
sensible response, but were "trolling" other people not linked
to this forum. I seem to have put more requests to be polite and
not get me shot for defammation or sued for libel :)
I've been wanting to update so many threads for a while, and
health aside, it takes sometimes quite a while to deal with some
moderation issues, which has taken up MOST of my time. The
reason being is that I WANT people to talk and vent their spleen
on things, rather than on Indiegogo, so that people on their can
just read whats important regarding the console, and not sifting
through rows etc. However I won't and cannot remove a post just
because it may upset a persons point of view, if there is a
report that something is defammatory or libelous, then as Admin
I have a duty to ascertain the FACT of the post. If its fact
then It Stays. Thats the part that has really stopped me from
updating threads.
I even paid for the chat box for people to talk together and
share views, I created a poll so that people could vote for when
they would be most likely online, so that on live chat they
could share views that maybe couldn't be voiced on a post. I've
pretty much tried all I can to try and reduce the posts that are
sent to moderation. I hope that reading this, people will see
that I am taking this seriously and doing ALL I can to make this
a place for everyone.

I've previously asked a number of times if anyone wishes to help
me out, but I appreciate that everyone has their own priorities,
and spare time is sometimes hard to find. If you want to jump on
board then give me a shout :)
I love constructive arguments, call them what you will, just as
long as they don't get anyone else into trouble lol! :)

Sorry I didn't mean this forum came into being because of the
division, I meant it came into being because of the interest in
the vega+, the vega+ campaign is now one of the big divisions in
the spectrum community. Not that this forum was form from the
division or anything to do with it. In fact independent forums
like this one are where the healing can/ will take place. :)

milinks, thanks a lot for putting this effort in the forum and
also thanks for hosting the chatbox. It's much appreciated. I
already had some nice zx-talks sharing spectrum memories. I hope
that this forum will be a great source when the Vega+ has been
released.
