Hello dear players,
With the help of this forum I plan to release new updates to
Zerg Hex. In the past I've relied on contact by individual
players for suggestions, but I think it would be much better if
players could also discuss their ideas with each other. There
have been conflicting ideas coming from different players by
mail which I found difficult to tackle. With a forum I imagine
it could be easier for me.
I'd like to allow the game to evolve more how the players would
like rather than my own choice. As the players are the ones
actually playing the game, and myself do much less of that, I
enjoy creating perhaps more than playing. I'd like to mention
that many changes were already made with player input.
You might have noticed that I've been inactive for quite some
time. I'll explain the main reasons for taking a step back from
Zerg Hex development:
[li]I had an active study, which sadly did not turn out into a
success. Causing me to rethink my priorities as I'm still unable
to support myself. But I'm lucky to still be able to live with
my parents and go from there.[/li]
[li]I've been trying to create a small stand-alone Java strategy
game. I enjoy creating games and programming. I prefer designing
a custom engine and that is a lengthy learning process.[/li]
[li]Negative feedback for changing Zerg Hex lead me to think it
could be good to let the game be played as-is for some time. I
can imagine it can be frustrating when your favorite style of
play gets adjusted so it's no longer viable.[/li]
[li]The SC2 editor is a bit slow on my PC. I tried upgrading
with an SSD, but it had no effect. I'm guessing the editor is
not really optimized and requires a faster processor to work
better.[/li]
However, I decided to try make the game better again with help
of players. I can spare some time for this. First I'll address
bugs and ease-of-play things. And once an idea gets enough
support I'll go for actual gameplay changes.
Make sure to write about great ideas you might have. I look
forward to read about it.
