Proving Grounds EU is a massive arena arcade mode for StarCraft
2 which requires multiple skill to successfully play it. It is a
fair, fast and fancy compition of strategy, reactions and unit
control.
At it's core, the goal of the game is to escort your builder to
the geysers in the river seperating the west and the east of the
map to gain vespene gas, which is used to establish a mineral
economy in your main base, advancing in tech and building higher
tier units. Once you reach a critical mass of units you can try
to attack and kill other players CCs to obtain honor and a huge
reward.
In addition to that and to prevent players from camping the
gasses forever, there is a very strong artifact in the middle
which will every four minutes destroy most of the buildings from
the battle zone and teleports all players units back to their
bases and slowing their movement for 1 minute. Controling the
artifact at the end of a cycle also provides a devastating
orbital bombardment, which prevents stalements, camping and
properly used can make game winning attacks happen.
All the races play completely diffent and have their own
strengths and weaknesses. While Terran has a very strong early
game and therefore an easy time to capture gasses, undead excels
in the long run and can dictate the pace of fights with powerful
heroic abilities.
The fight against the clock and other players, endless unit
combinations in team modes, NPCs and teleporters, a well crafted
and polished map and the challenging AI provide constant action,
a well balanced RTS experience, incredible fun and of course a
small pinch of salt. ;)
