italis transported in btw hives surrounded by ion trails, kills
both hives and wins the game

italis transport in between the two zerg hives, surrounded by an
ion trail, and killed both hives to win. I couldn't kill them bc
the ion trail protected them when i f2 a moved there. maybe some
extra base defence inbetween the hatchs to help protect against
this? or a transport range? unlimited range at the moment may be
too much and is it really necessary? is it essential for italis
to transport from one end of the map to another?

1st of realize that they are ioning.
2nd hydras work quite well against the italis.
3rd you got bamboozled my friend.
4th no this does not need to be nerfed.

Italis can only teleport to allied structures. In your case,
that means that those Italis are freshly warped in, which means
multiple Terrans are cooperating, in which case you likely would
have lost anyway.

This. 6 Terrans going straight ion usually wins without
italises, but of course doing an italis (or several) to kill a
hive with auto attacks and then TP out saves energy and minerals
and gives some terrans an italis to defend.
I hear stories of premades doing stuff like that every now and
then... it's definetely annoying, but balancing / designing game
around 6 terrans playing with a thought out (even if cheap)
strategy will not be great for all the non-premade teams lol.
Like Mett said, if you know they do stuff like that make like
5-10 hydras so you can kill those italis as they are warping in
(which takes 10 seconds, so it's free pickings). However I do
think terrans will get 9 ions off and kill you that way before
you can kill them. Game isn't meant for 6 coordinating terrans,
especially 6 ion rushers.

I know clan Italis will occasionally do this, I don't see a need
to nerf it. It's a cheese that's countered by actually building
ranged defensive units so you can kill the Italises as they warp
in. As Speed noted, it's just a way of killing off hive with
more flair than your usual "we just straight up rushed ion"
strats.
