       An open letter to the youTube Design Team

       Dear Youtube Design Team,
       Many of us have enjoyed your website for many years, and have
       enjoyed the thriving community that has grown up around your
       service. But in the past few months, your service has changed.
       It began with the experiment named "cosmic panda". This was a
       new look for YouTube, a more polished format. This format
       eventually took over the entire site.
       Although some people like this new look, the overwhelming
       majority of people consider it to be more difficult to use, and
       less user friendly. You see, people come to YouTube for
       different reasons. Most come from other sites, looking for a
       particular video, and nothing else. Some come to the site
       specifically to see the content to which they have subscribed.
       Still others come to randomly browse videos. There are also the
       people who make their own channels. They customize them and load
       their videos as a way to express their individuality. These and
       other types of users are what make the youtube community
       valuable for your advertisers.
       The new gray layout has made it all but impossible for anyone
       but the random browsers and the specific video watchers, to use
       your site. The new "one size fits all" channel design allows for
       much less customization and therefore less incentive for users
       to express themselves by creating content. In short, you are
       destroying the very reason that advertisers are willing to give
       you money. The established community. So, we are begging. Please
       give us the option to use the layout that makes it easier for us
       to use your site, the way we choose.
