       Hey everyone,
Thanks for coming to the Forum and letting us know what you
think of YouTube’s new design. We’ve made a lot of changes to
YouTube over the last week and appreciate the feedback you’ve
shared with us about these changes. We are confident that, with
your suggestions, this new design will improve your YouTube
       experience in the long run.
Over the past week, we’ve been reading all of your feedback and
are working to incorporate many of your suggestions into the new
YouTube design. We always do our best to build YouTube in a way
       that meets your needs.
We’ve been in an ongoing discussion with the team since launch,
and want to provide you with an update to address what we’ve
noticed and what we’re working on.
       Hot Topics:
       - X to Remove Videos From Your Homepage Feed
We recognize that consuming videos of Channels you follow and
discovering new valuable content is an integral part of the
       YouTube experience.
We are currently experimenting with various ways to make it
easier to keep track of what you’ve watched, and give you easier
access to control the content you see from the channels you
subscribe to. Over the next month, we will be working on
delivering a better homepage feed experience while keeping a
close eye on feedback and tracking activity around how features
       are used.
       - Too Much Scrolling
You’ve made it clear that the new homepage layout can be a lot
to scroll through, especially for those of you with a ton of
subscriptions. To help you keep track of your new subscriptions
and recent activity updates we’ve improved the subscriptions
management page, which lets you control which subscriptions show
by default in the left column (under “Subscriptions”).
With the subscriptions management page and upcoming improvements
to the homepage feed (as mentioned above), we think you’ll enjoy
       the new homepage.
       - Centered Design
Though the look and feel of the site has changed, the width of
YouTube is actually no different from the previous version of
the site and won’t be changing.
As mentioned above, we’re exploring improvements for the
homepage feed that we hope will make this new design better and
       easier to scan.
       2011-12-08
       - Grey Background
The new background serves as a more subtle backdrop for the
other elements on the page - the video, the thumbnail, the
search results and related videos - and puts these elements
front and center for a better viewing experience. For example,
when you hover your mouse over a video preview, a white tile
will emerge that will allow you to better focus on the content
       of that preview.
In more text-heavy areas of the site, we may be able to improve
contrast for ease of readability and are currently exploring
       some improvements.
       - Clicked Videos Links
All videos links you’ve clicked should turn dark violet blue so
you can differentiate between videos you’ve watched and those
you haven’t. We are making this consistent throughout the site
       to limit confusion.
       - Recommended Video Area
Last, but certainly not least, we understand that it can be
frustrating if you’re not able to remove content from your
homepage (especially if you’ve already watched a video, the
video is repeated, or you don’t want to see activity updates
       from a particular user).
Again, we hear you, and we’ll be working on improving the site
       based on your feedback.
       What’s next?
We’ve taken your feedback to heart, and over the coming weeks
the design & engineering teams will be looking at data around
how the community uses the new site design as we figure out how
to continue to improve on the new YouTube.
In particular, the team will be focusing on ways to enable you
to better sort and control the content that appears on your
homepage, and give you more context explaining why certain
       content appears on your homepage.
Please continue to let us know your thoughts. Your experiences
are important to us and we want to know what you love, and how
site changes impact how you use YouTube.
Stay tuned as we continue to build on these new features. As
always, we welcome your feedback and questions.
       Thanks!
Kendall & the rest of the YouTube team

**Changes to Channel page, viewing Subscribers**
We have updated your Channel pages. If you are amongst those
wanting to know who is subscribed to you, you now can.
       - Visit your Channel
       - Click on the Subscription number in the header of your
Channel. You can now view all Channels following you as well as
       how many subscribers they have.
Please note, you can only see the Subscribers connected to your
Channel. Clicking on the Subscription number on another Channel
will not bring you to a similar screen.
