Finish the book and closing statements!
By: yogasimplifiedmethod Date: November 20, 2022, 10:31 am
---------------------------------------------------------
The remaining chapters are for you to do on your own time, but
you still need to answer until chapter 20. The whole premise of
reading was to dive into self-reflection topics and critical
thinking. Dr. Goldberg is a yogi scholar, a follower of
Vivekananda and Yogananda, a Vedantic, and a multi-faith
minister. He's also human, raw, funny, and a gentle reminder to
do what's best for you. Now that you have started the book and
are nearing the end, it's up to you to finish it.
Write a short summary of what you took from the stories, quotes,
anecdotes, lessons, and tips. What did you like about the book,
and/or what didn't you like? Would you recommend it to others?
Did it help you develop a deeper connection with spirituality or
drive you away? Why do you think this book was chosen for the
program? No answer is a wrong answer.

Closing statements:
I found this book very interesting. It was not something I would
have typically choose to read on my own, but I'm glad that I got
the opportunity to read it. I think taking time to just read
through it again on my own would be more beneficial to better
understand a lot of the material.
Every chapter in this book had personally relatable information
which was nice to bring out through the travel tips. Completing
the travel tips also often caused a lot of self reflection,
which I liked. I thought that this book helped me align more
with what I pictured to be spirituality. I never felt that Dr.
Goldberg was trying to sell me on a particular idea of
spirituality and he left things open for my own interpretation.
I think this book was chosen for the program for everyone to
broaden their experience with spirituality whether they came
from a religious background or not and everyone could interpret
Dr. Goldberg's writing to their own personal experiences in
life.

I really enjoyed the set up of the book and the entire concept
of the travel tips. It was a great opportunity to pause on what
was just read and reflect on experiences. Some questions and
chapters definitely challenged me to dig deeper and put thoughts
into words, I even had to re-read a few chapters to let the
information sink in. I specifically enjoyed chapters 7 Warning:
Guides Are Not Licensed and 11 Vehicle Maintenance Mandatory.
I think this book was chosen for the program because, as you
mentioned, Goldberg is raw, funny, gentle and the book is a
great reminder that even those with years of research are still
human moving through their own journey. I had fun reading
everyone’s response and appreciate everyone sharing experiences
and stories. Some chapters and responses I totally agreed with,
others made me think in a new perspective!

I enjoyed reading this book through my YTT experience. Many of
the stories and quotes were relatable to my own life. As Des
said this book helped me dive deep into self reflection. The
travel tips were super helpful to really think about how the
chapter connected to your own life.
Like Darren I would like to go back and read this on my own
time. I believe this book will be helpful at any point in your
spiritual journey. There are so many nuggets of wisdom in this
book that I think I would get a whole other perspective from
reading it a second time. This book has me dive deeper into my
spiritual journey and it also took some pressure off it too. It
was a nice reminder that everyone is on their own path and there
is no right way or one size fits all to spirituality.
I would definitely recommend this book to someone especially if
they have started o dabble in their spirituality but I also
think there are just some life lessons in this book that anyone
could take away from.

Closing statements:
I really enjoyed this book. Everyone’s spiritual path looks
different and I thought that this book helped all of us along
that path in ways we individually needed. I love each chapters
travel tips it makes you stop and think about how the chapter
speaks to you, it makes you reflect on yourself and how it
relates to your life. Every chapter makes you dig a little
deeper into yourself, it awakens your inner most feelings in a
good way it leaves you feeling lighter and more clear. I
especially enjoyed chapter 2 forks In the road. Helped me
realize I need to trust myself when my mind can’t settle and to
be ok with checking in with your feelings.
I would definitely recommend this book to someone who is looking
for a more spiritual path in life. I think this book is an easy
read that will help guide them thru their journey. I think this
book was chosen for a few reasons. One I believe it acts as a
guide rather than telling us something to believe in. I think
the travel tips help open us up to let things out and gain
perspective. I definitely will go back and re-read this book,
some chapters I embraced others I didn’t fully understand but I
believe everyone can take something positive away from road
signs.

Closing Statements!
As Daren mentioned, I probably would have never picked up this
book on my own to read. Honestly, I was not much of a reader
before YTT, which I always wanted to change, but rather I would
use my time scrolling through social media. Not anymore! I have
really enjoyed taking the extra time I have in the day or time
at night before bed, to read and reflect. I won’t lie, at times
I was like what the heck did I just read? I also had to re-read
some parts of the book, and even look up some words ha! But I
put in the time and really felt the benefit. I really loved how
the travel tips assisted you in understanding what you just read
and helped you apply it to your life. As I mentioned in my last
post, there were a few things I found myself re-writing similar
thoughts and statements as I answered the questions. A lot of it
relates to my life as a kid and growing up Catholic, still to
this day dealing with a very Catholic family that I do not see
eye to eye with. This book helped me be OK that I don’t. It
made me realize there are other ways to be spiritual and believe
in something greater than you. Other ways to be a good, loyal,
kind person. This book really made me reflect a lot, more than
I probably would have otherwise.
I also agree that the way he wrote this book did not feel as if
he was pushing any point of view or way on you. He did a great
job offering examples from all different paths. I believe this
book was chosen for that very reason, to display what a
spiritual path could look like different from the traditional
Western way of thinking. It also had some great life lessons and
points to reflect on that tied back to the “way to live your
yoga” - in my opinion, which was the whole purpose of this YTT
journey to me!

Darren,
Thank you for taking the time to read the book and open up to
the questions. It is a very interesting book, and when I read it
a couple of years back, something about his approach to
spirituality felt embraced. He was very open to various ways of
interpretation, and his message was basically, "you do you boo
boo." It doesn't matter what background a person may come from;
it's how you live your life. It's about watching for signs to
make appropriate decisions on your journey, even if you must
detour.
Enjoy finishing it and re-reading it!

Niki,
The setup of the book is clever, isn't it? Challenging you to
dig deeper and really process our mindsets was something that
captivated me when I first picked up the book a few years back.
Picking out a few chapters that spoke to you warms my heart that
they made such an impact. Regarding your peers' responses, it is
a privilege to read others open up and have their own take on
their lives and interpretations as well. I'm glad you took the
time to read them and enjoyed doing so.

Erin,
Relatable stories like the ones in the book allow us to know
we all go through transformations and processes that enable us
to grow, even if it causes some growing pains. The greatest
takeaway is being able to relate to the topics and allow them to
pique your interests, realizing there's no exact way of doing
things. The book not only supported you to dive deeper in but
simultaneously removed added pressure we subconsciously put on
ourselves. You're going to make such an impact in so many lives
Erin, thanks for reading the book!

Heidi,
Awakening your innermost feelings in a good way, I love that!
Reading about your family, father Bennett, your career, etc was
a wonderful experience for me to learn more about you.
Highlighting how Chapter 2 spoke to you puts a smile on my face.
The book is definitely an easy read, even if you have to
re-read the chapter. Luckily they are short, and the travel tips
make them even more compelling. Good observation seeing it as a
guide rather than directing you. Thank you for reading the book
and glad you gained perspective from it.
