       do not go gentle into that good night { death }
By: everlasting Date: April 22, 2013, 7:01 pm
       ---------------------------------------------------------
Do not go gentle into that good night.
Her systems were shutting down. Her head hurt, her limbs ached,
and her white fur was laced and dirtied with dried blood. She
couldn't go on for much longer-- this she knew. She no longer
wished to consume or to breath. All she could pray for was
death, because she knew it would be the only release to her
pain. However, she was too selfless to attempt suicide. She knew
what the results would be. After all, she had people who loved
her and she knew how they would feel if she fell into an
       everlasting coma.
Old age should burn and rage at close of day.
If she died, what would happen to Copperburnt, Spacestar, Dixie,
Rapidpaw? Would they mourn her for the night and forget about
her, continuing to carry on with their duties for the rest of
their lives? Would they even give her any recognition as the
small little girl that had been learning how to heal? Of course
they would leave her in the past eventually. She was no noble
       goddess.
Rage, rage, rage, against the dying of light.
The prospect of death frightened her. She would miss everyone,
but she couldn't give up. Just because some bullies from the
Cercis had beat her up didn't mean she had to fade away-- no!
She's fight everything that had happened to her. She would
overcome. Tightening her muscles and starting to heave, she
sucked air into her lungs as efficiently as possible.
Do not go gentle into that good night.
But not even that had worked, and very soon enough her little
heart stopped beating. Her brain stopped working. She convulsed
where she lay, and she struggled for life. But she could not, oh
she could not. And very soon, even little Frostedkit's light
       died out.
But you died twice. Once when your heart stopped beating, and
once when your name was spoken for the last time. As long as she
was remembered, she would never die.

[center]"FROSTEDKIT, NOOO!" The ivory stout cried with hot tears
running down her slim face. What the hell was happening? Not
long before this, Dixie had talked with the Medicine Cat
Apprentice, told her it would get better. Dammit, she was wrong!
She jinxed it! The rodent felt guilty to the bone, and darted
over sobbing and crying her eyes out. One of her two friends was
dead. And it could very well be all. Her. Fault.
"You can't die on me, hun," The ivory rodent hissed, though she
wasn't angry at Frosted. She was angry at herself. At Copper for
not expecting this. At Further for letting her get hurt. At
WindClan because they should have protected her. Dixie was just
       mostly mad at herself.
She started nibbling on the young Medicine Cat Apprentice
frantically, to try and get a response. She was no healer, it
wasn't her place to start doing things like Copper. Hell, she
didn't even know what to do! The little stoat whispered shakily
and cried, "Please, please don't die.." Her voice fell and
couldn't complete the rest. Instead, the stoat rolled over,
       shaking in shock.

"Hey, what going on, hm?" he mewed and then he padded over, a
mouse in his maw to bring to Frostedkit, a weak smile on his
face. Then, he heard sobbing, and he dropped the prey, and
staggered back, his copper eyes watering "Wha-? No, no, no!
Frostedkit! My baby! No, no! That's not fuckin' fair!" he wailed
and bent down to nuzzle through her still warm fur "NO! Frosty
speak to me, hun!" he cried lowly, his body racking in deep,
loud sobs. "Frosted! Dixie! I didn't heal her, I just thought
she'd heal, its my fault! I'm such an idiot!" he stammered,
words just bubbling out. An excuse, he waited to she he eyes
open, a prank, maybe? But then, he broke down, sobbing once
       more, unable to speak.

       "Get away from her."
Shoving the stoat aside, he buried his muzzle in her fur, the
tears coming fast and thick, choking him as he nestled his
muzzle in her soft, alabaster fur and breathed in her sweet
scent. She couldn't be dead, there was no way she could be dead.
His little Frosty, his world. So what if he was a medicine cat
and they belonged to different clans. Frostedkit had been his
and Rapidpaw had loved her, so so much.
"She's not gone, she'll come back, I know she will."

The stoat didn't budge, but simply tipped a tad to the side.
Rapid could grieve, but that didn't give him rights to have her.
Dixie sniffled before wiping her wet nose off on her shoulder,
stepping away so that these two could pay their respects. After
all, Fros probably didn't even care about her. Why would she?
Just a fan that aspired to be like the Medicine Cat Apprentice
and her mentor, more than likely didn't give a shit.
"She might. She might now. If she wants to, she will, but she's
better now. Fros isn't in pain. And you know, maybe she doesn't
want to come back." The slender ivory stoat whispered, body
still shaking from the continuous racking of her body prior. If
Frostedkit wanted to come back, she would. If she had a real
reason to join them again, she would. But life was full of
cycles, and unfortunately, death was one of them.

Copperburnt turned to the tom and snarled, standing and shoving
him, his eyes wild "Who gave you the damn right to shove Dixie
out the way? Who the fuck are you? Why the hell are you even
here?" he asked, his claws unsheathed. Even though he was a
medicien cat, he was still tresspassing.

"She'll come back. She loves me to much to leave me, and if she
doesn't come back I'll just join her." Rapidpaw meowed with a
casual flick of his tail, pulling himself back a little bit so
Copperburnt could have some time with his apprentice. It would
be like him losing Pinkpaw, his apprentice and close friend. Or
even Bronx, his other newer apprentice, though not as close as
       Pink.

       oc; never ever. never
Dixie groaned one final time and looked at Copper, her closest
companion that seemed to be defending her. Oh, true-- this cat
wasn't supposed to be here! The stoat wouldn't be able to put up
much of a fight, and so simply mumbled, "Why are you here
coincidentally, anyway Radid? This isn't your clan in case you
didn't realize," Dixie narrowed her black, beady eyes with a
sudden feeling of defensiveness, "You were given no permission.
And you're thinking ridiculously-- this may be good for her.
Maybe she wants to get away from stress, no matter how much you
two loved each other. She wouldn't want you to die nor take your
own life, so you'll just make her spirit feel guilty. Do you
really want to do that?" The ivory stoat asked, a tsk sound
escaping her throat, "Don't pressure her into coming back--
she's probably watching." Dixie didn't want to seem mean to the
grieving, but damn, he had no respect for her. So why return
       what wasn't given?
As much as Di wanted Fros back, she didn't want to force the
Medicine Cat Apprentice back if the alabaster she cat didn't
want to. In fact, the stoat yearned to have her back, but if she
wasn't meant to? Then so be it, right? It would take moons to
get over, but hey-- she loved Fros. And she'd never forget her,
       not ever.
