Worrying. [Prairiedog]
By: Kyriil Date: March 29, 2013, 9:34 pm
---------------------------------------------------------
Dancingpaw trotted into the
medicine cat's den, hoping that Prairiedog would have time to
talk to her. She needed someone to confide in, and the lynx cub
didn't have many friends-- other than her father-- and she hoped
to make more friends. The medicine cat seemed nice enough,
anyways, and surely a medicine cat would be able to reassure
her? She grieved still for her mother and brother, as did her
father.

"You alright there, dear?" Prairiedog
meowed, pulling herself out from under a pile of shredded herbs
and making her way over to the apprentice, shaking the scraps
from her golden pelt and grinning. Sure, it was odd she was
buried under the scraps, but she had her reasons and that wasn't
really important right now. "Are you sick? You don't look
injured."

"No-- I'm fine. Physically, that
is." She sighed quietly. "I'm sure you know about my mom and
brother. I miss them a lot and so does my dad. I also don't have
any friends... and I was just thinking maybe we could be
friends?" She asked hopefully, looking at the medicine cat with
large, hopeful blue eyes.

"I did hear, and I'm terribly sorry
dear. When I lost my family in a twister, I was devastated. But,
I'd love to be your friend. Maybe even take you under my wing as
my apprentice." Prairiedog offered softly.

"That'd be nice." She murmured.
"I'd like to have friends... maybe I wouldn't feel so lonely. I
think dad is lonely too, but he'd never admit it. I've noticed
that he doesn't really open up to other cats much." She sighed
and gave the medicine cat a weak smile. "He told me once that he
feels like an outsider because he wasn't born
here."

"Well, you can run along and tell
your daddy that you're the new medicine cat apprentice. You seem
cut out for it, honestly you do honey." Prairiedog meowed with a
bright grin.

"Really?" She whispered, afraid to
believe it. "Isn't there already two of them? Won't you have
your paws full trying to teach all of us?" The apprentice looked
at her with huge blue eyes, surprise coloring her tone and face.
"Won't you have to ask Breakingstar or
something?"

"Pagan is the only one. He hasn't
gotten to far into his training, so you'll be on the same page."
She explained with a hopeful smile, then continued. "I'm not
gonna force you into anything. If you don't want the position, I
understand. Also, y'all don't need to worry about Breakingstar.
Medicine cats handle medicine cat business." Prairiedog meowed
brightly.

"Of course I want to be a medicine
cat apprentice!" She cried, and then sobered. "Besides, what
other use do I have? I hate fighting. And I could only ever have
half-lynx cubs, but StarClan knows there's not a tom out there
for me." She puffed her chest up and looked at the medicine cat
with renewed determination in her eyes. "This is the path I
choose."

"Position's yours, honey bun!"
Prairiedog purred with delight, her eyes glowing as she spoke.
"If Makorush or Paganpaw give you any trouble, you tell them
they'd better complain to me. You deserve the job, just like
they deserved their jobs."
