In Carrie Youngs "Adjo Means Goodbye," befriending a "colored"
was not acceptable back than and whoever you hang out with marks
your status.
The narrator seemed to have no connection with anyone and her
descriptions of a friendship shows the little affection she got
from anyone.
When hanging out with friends, there is a sense of protection
but alone and lost creates an unsettling mood as happened when
both girls split apart.
In Adjo means goodbye the narrator remained a pawn during her
childhood while her friend learned what was acceptable and
eventually became a queen.

“The worst sin toward our fellow creatures is not to hate them,
but to be indifferent to them.” The story Of Mice And Men takes
place during the Great Depression which was a time of alienation
and prejudice. This story is about the meaningless lives of
migrant workers, which was a very common occupation during this
time. In the naturalistic novel, Of Mice And Men, John
Steinbeck uses the characters Lennie, Crooks, and Curley’s wife
to illustrate the themes of man’s inhumanity to his fellow man
and alienation.
Lennie’s mild retardation has resulted in him being treated
inhumanely by others; he is constantly mocked and put down by
those who have little understanding to his condition.
Crooks has been treated inhumanely and alienated throughout the
book, specifically because of his race and spinal issues.
Steinbeck also displays alienation through the character Candy.

"In Shakespears play Macbeth, Shakespeare uses three witches
which help determine Macbeths future. They determine his future
by using the three apparitions: A head of armor, bloody baby,
and child crowned with a tree in his hand. The apparitions can
show that Macbeth can be defeated."
"Macduff, A man in armor, can defeat Macbeth on the
battlefield."
"Macduff was not born a woman."
"The Great Birnam Wood move onto the battlefield."

The Wife of Baths relationship with her five husbands shows
clear emotional instability within herself due to her lack of
compassion with her husbands.
“Instability: The quality or state of being unstable; especially
: lack of emotional or mental stability” as defined by Merriam
Webster is spot on when describing the wife of bath.
Who the Wife of Bath really is, is far different than what the
eye may see.
Her fourth husband was into other affairs with another woman,
and the wife had lost her touch.
The Wife of Baths emotional instability consequently caused her
downfall with the first four husbands.

Gatsby's tragic death was foreshadowed by the change of seasons
and the death of Mrytle; it shows how hard it is to achieve the
American Dream. When Gatsby, Tom, Daisy, and Jordan return from
the eventful day out in town, and with the accident with Mrytle,
he still has some hope for staying with Daisy even though Tom
and her are okay. Gatsby says to Nick "I want to wait here 'til
Daisy goes to bed. Good night old sport."(146). This speaks
volumes on Gatsby's character because it shows even though he
knows he can't get her back, he still cares about her enough to
look after her.
Another lead up to Gatsby's death was the changing of the
seasons, and how as the seasons changed, so did Daisy's
feelings.
The last remark Nick makes to Gatsby before he dies was "They're
a rotten crowd, you're worth the whole damn bunch." (154). Even
though Nick didn't know that Gatsby was going to die, he still
says it, which foreshadows something happening to Gatsby.

Sold was a very interesting book that deals with problems in a
neighbor hood in the middle of a war. This book shows how young
girls struggle during wars, with men and families in the middle
east.

From the stories that we read from the Miller and the Reeve,
they show that they have some sort of relationship that makes
them have a problem with each other. This is shown through their
dialogue and the stories that they tell on the pilgrimage. The
issue first comes up when the Miller says what his tale is going
to be about. Both the Miller’s and the Reeve’s Tales criticize
each other; the Miller’s making fun of the Reeve’s clumsiness
and the Reeve’s explaining how the Miller is a thief.
Before the Miller told his tale, there was some dialogue
between him and the Reeve that first brought up the issue
between them.
The Miller told a tale about a carpenter that was basically a
mirror image of the Reeve, indirectly making fun of him.
Much like The Miller’s Tale, The Reeve’s Tale got back at the
Miller by proving how he is a thief in his business.
