Not been around much lately

I'm sorry to say that I've been neglecting OFF recently. Partly
because I needed a break from WOT. It was causing too much rage
and I had to play something lighter (Bad Company and Lego Marvel
borrowed from my son fitted the bill). I think the rage has
passed though, so I'll ease myself back in gently.
Another reason was that I've been distracted in a big way with
work.
Back in February we were told our lab was being closed down and
moved a couple of hours away. If we wanted to keep our jobs the
only option was relocation, which was no option at all. It was a
bit of a trying time. Belt tightening in preparation, saving
like crazy to lessen the impact of being laid off, you probably
know the drill.
A couple of months afterwards, I got a call from one of our
equipment suppliers who asked if I'd be interested in a service
engineer position with them. Would I? Do bears...etc...of
course I'm interested. Anyway, while things steadily got less
and less attractive at work, I've been quietly waiting and
discussing this new job.
Well, to make a long story not very much shorter, I accepted a
job offer from them today. A good pay raise, company car, health
and life plans etc. I couldn't be happier with how it's all
turned out. And to cap it all, I've just realised I've been
head-hunted! Me! Head-hunted! Phew, that stuff puffs your chest
out.
So, after a bit of a crappy year, things are on the up and the
belt tightening we did has nearly saved enough to pay the
mortgage off. (huge props to the mrs. She's a rock, a classy
lady and hot as hell to boot)
Sorry if this come across a bit "Me, Me, Me" but I'm so relieved
and can finally relax and kick back a bit now...maybe even be in
the right frame of mind to play some tanks.

Glad you landed on your feet! Not only did you get out of your
job, you got perks and and a pay increase!!! Lucky guy!!! Truly
a success story for those of us outsourced or dislocated because
some bigwig wants to look good for their stockholders, or they
want to have additional cash to spend on their Rhino mistress.

Yeah, I fully appreciate how lucky I've been.
I'm not usually the guy who falls down the shitter and comes up
with a bar of chocolate :bigsmile:
I'll have to buy an extra lottery ticket this week to see how
far this lucky streak goes.

Best of luck in the new job! Glad it all worked out. These
things can be very trying and tend to weigh heavily on you in
everything you do.
