Wifi

Bought a new wireless AP just now, and will be moving to a UTM
router at home to accompany it tonight. Hopefully this fixes my
dropped connections which were plaguing me last night.
For the geekheads: LinkSys LAPN600 and Sophos UTM

Nice. I was having issues dropping packets and losing connection
on a Wi-Fi connection, now my Xbox has a Cat5 connection to my
modem and unless WG has server issues, I'm good.

Yeah, I just havent gotten around to running cat5 since we moved
recently, thus the wifi issues. The good news is that i also
have a Dell PowerConnect 2824 to go with the setup ;)

Very nice, I like switches over routers any day. I live in the
country but get blazing speeds for internet and I don't need the
firewall issue to deal with on a router.

Yeah before the move i had biz class internet. avg download
speed was 90-95Mbps with 20-30Mbps upload. I dropped it when we
moved and am beginning to think it was a mistake.

are you still in there service range? We dropped out T.V. and
Phone and went straight internet and are paying less to get more
internet than before. We're at 50 megs down and up. I can set up
a VoIP phone for service if need be and between Hulu and Netflix
don't really need T.V. anymore...life is good when it starts to
free up funds.

My WiFi has been less than reliable lately. Seriously
considering setting up a wired connection. I've got the
cable... just not excited about fishing wire through
walls/floors.

well ill say this, my new access point provides a full strength
signal all the way to the back of my property using only the
2.4Ghz band, i havent even setup the 5Ghz yet... lol
