I agree that the whole "visit the board regularly" is somewhat
vague and open to interpretation, but I think we have an idea --
i.e., if someone visits once a week, I'd consider that regularly
for someone who's not a big message board person. Plus, clan
votes are open for at least a week, so they wouldn't miss
anything.
QUESTION: Does the board have an option to send an email to all
registered members? If so, it'd be nice to send one when we have
important things come up (e.g., freeze on new members, etc.).
ALSO: Board members are not only accountable to these standards,
they should be held to even HIGHER standards.
ALSO TOO: I think we should have new Board members once a year,
with folks nominated by and then voted on by the clan. Yes, this
can open it up to being a popularity contest, but I think it'd
be good overall. (And, of course, assuming the XBox 360 and WoT
are still supported a year from now!)
Your mileage may vary, of course ...
P.S. Sorry for not commenting this weekend. Needed a bit of a
break.

Yes we do. I think an email announcement went out to every one
for the membership vote.

If this were to happen, we would be going down a very political
road, one I don't agree that we need. I would say if a member of
the clan believes that a board member is not acting accordingly
then that member can start a poll or go to a BoD or Senior
member (which ever is next in the chain of command) and have
them start a poll stating their issue with collaborating facts
to vote the Board member out and then have the clan vote a new
one, something like that. Not everyone needs a shot at running
this thing and some people will just make another mess of things
with what rules they want in place, see what I'm saying? That's
just what I see happening.

I think the Clan should not have limits on BoD's time in
service...
Kinda like asking the Pentagon to change CoS's yearly.
I think, we should want seasoned and commited leadership.
I don't want to be wasting time voting for Prom Kings and Queens
every year.
Just my opinion...

Regarding BoD members lifespan. I am sure it takes a lot of
people's work and time. Someone may just want a break anyway.
How about we just rotate one or two people off a year. Just to
keep it fresh but maintain focus and stability. I would ask that
standing down be voluntary so as not to create a popularity
contest.

I agree. And I imagine people getting all buggy with the
political campaigns during game time and then there will have to
be another rule made about campaigning...OI, more rules!!!

Yeah, I did consider the politicking that would be involved. And
agree that it would suck.
Basically, the idea was that the BoD are NOT a bunch of
appointed-for-life, all-powerful rulers with no accountability
(which some seem to think is the case). They are just folks
willing to dedicate a lot of personal time to the clan and do a
lot of the boring, thankless, and sometimes shitty work that
needs doing.
I truly wish we didn't need rules. But I also wish we didn't
need rules to keep companies from polluting our air and water,
yet we do. Why? Because while most people are decent, way too
many have a penchant for clinical douchebaggery and general
assholery. It happens in any large group.
These rules hopefully will—when modified with some of the great
suggestions we've had and will continue to receive—at least give
us a framework with which we can operate and lay out some
general expectations.

I agree with what was said earlier that if there is an issue
with a BoD member or that a BoD member voluntarily steps down
then the members vote on a new BoD member.
I understand where you're coming from TKE, but I don't think
changing the BoD every year is going to change people's thinking
not to mention all the rule changes that goes with each change
of leadership.
As you said the BoD "are just folks willing to dedicate a lot of
personal time to the clan and do a lot of the boring, thankless,
and sometimes shitty work that needs doing." Not everyone is
able to dedicate their time whether it be work, family, or life
in general. Plus, not everyone has what it takes to do those
mundane tasks required to run a clan and put up with the
everyone crying over every little thing.
We as clan members need to remember the Staff/BoD are NOT
getting paid for their time or the headaches they are putting up
with! They have jobs and lives outside of what they do here!
Yet, they "come to work" everyday for us! How many of you are
willing to do that?

I suggest a two year rotation for board members with a rotation
of the CEO as and when he is committed to a 'local institution'
for his own safety and well being...
Seriously, I believe two years per board member with the key
positions being renewed annually 'IF' required by an internal
board vote. We voted fellow players to the board members so they
are OUR choice, we either commit to support them (Yes, we will
not always see eye to eye) or fall to chaos. Sorry ladies and
gents but rules are required, how are we to instill and maintain
discipline in the Platoon wars if we are in chaos in the garage.
We chose the board, we SUPPORT the board or live in anarchy.
We have a strong Clan, we have an amazing cross section of
people, do you not think the other Clans are not jealous of us,
do you not think that they would love to start (started??)the
arguing and bickering we are now living with.
The fact they got suckered into the Board positions .. ahem
sorry 'volunteered' and do a crap load of work for free means
they are crazy and therefore we should keep them, support them
for they are committed to OFF and us.
Hold the line, load the guns... Strength and Honor ...Valor
Victorious... :charge:
