My family is healthy and happy in Florida as well. My industry
has not skipped a beat, we have 80 employees, of which 65 are
sales & support staff who are all telecommuting and I am
grateful for not being forced out of work.
My heart goes out to all OFF'ers in this time and pray for the
best for everyone....stay safe and wash your hands you filthy
animals....

Keep safe all, make sure when Matt is in the party you disinfect
everything you can after he leaves.
Still teaching and running virtual class meetings in San Diego,
hope everyone the absolute best.
Keep tanking!

Update to my situation...furlough extended until mid May. Upside
is that MF (MacLean-Fogg) is covering out Health Benefits
through the end of May, which is a BIG relief :D Still gotta
pay them back after work resumes, but better than COBRA or
having to shop for health insurance.
85% of our business (Fasteners Division) is automotive based,
either as a Tier I or Tier II Supplier to Ford, GM, Chrysler,
Nissan, Toyota, Tesla, RiFast, BMW, Volvo, VW, etc. My plant in
Richmond, IL makes only Ford, GM, Chrysler, Tesla, and RiFast
parts. No Large Truck, Ag, or other industry fasteners like some
of our other plants do. Our Power, Injection Molding, and IT
Divisions are working full staff and hours.
So, we're basically waiting for automotive builds to re-start
before we can resume production. I'd take 32hrs/week, at this
point :-\

Just picked up my son from Ottawa, his last exams was yesterday,
we now have to adjust to him back home.
Sorry to hear Chuck...I hope they start lifting some of the
restrictions, but I fear this is going to be for a little while.
The Province just extended the job restrictions to May 4th, my
guess is that buy them time to extend the emergency conditions
powers from May 8th to July, to do that though it has to go to
parliamentary vote.
I have been asked to start considering who may have to be put on
paid leave, things are starting to slow down for us.

Maybe, but some might take it as a warning on their performance
and start looking for new work, though we have lots of backlog
and once things lift all our clients will likely ask how to
recover schedule.

For us, it was based on experience, and job knowledge. I can run
most parts, except maybe a few. The one guy still working can
run them all. That was the deciding factor for us.
An idea would be to have a meeting and let them know whats going
on, and how the decision will be made regarding capabilities,
experience, etc. Thats how we did it, and most were ok with
that.
