       SPEARHEAD 3RD ARMORED DIVISION

I just finished Adam Makos' new book SPEARHEAD. The last book
report I wrote was in the mid 60's so I will refrain from
       providing one on this book.
However if you are interested in a detail look at armored
warfare from the human and machine side of both forces in the
conflict I recommend giving the book a read.
There is a detailed account of the Pershing crew encountering a
Panther in Cologne. Fascinating account that brought out many
       emotions.
You can find the book on Mr. Makos' web site www.adammakos.com.
Click on the book on the home page and scroll down to the
"trailer" and click on the video to watch the Pershing v Panther
encounter. The encounter was caught on film by Mr. Bates a
member of the Army's film and picture organization. No Hollywood
       here just live WWII action.
Don't miss reading the "Afterword" section that brought tears to
       this ole fart's eyes.

That looks like an awesome read! I will definitely pick that one
       up! Thank you
On the same topic, I just finished The Last Battle by Stephen
Harding. A very well written and detailed read that i highly
       recommend :thumb:

@Chuck... the movie is in pre-production... I remember you
telling me your wife ordered the book for you when I told you
about this couple years back. I went back and re-read it again.
Hopefully hollywood does alright, because it is an pretty
       incredible story.

Panther evaporated one of the Shermans int hte battle before
       taking on the Pershing...

Funny- I thought of “The Last Battle” by Cornelius Ryan
of “the longest day” fame. Chronicled the stand in Berlin
       Still have the original
I scrounged out of a Manhattan bookstore in the 80’s
Kinda looks like it was in the war-it’s so damn old and scruffy

Jake, old and scruffy, just like you! :old:
Currently reading Diary of a Flying Tiger (can't recall author)
       - it's really good!
Bryan (or is it Brian?), that's god news - if done right, it
will be a really good movie :salute:
