Any British war film is a no go if you have a officer and his
pet dog.All dog's in these films were called n***er.Pretty bad
in my eyes.Saving Ryan's privates was a hash of fictitious
drivel with a few entrails launched out of a bucket. The Great
escape none of it was true other than dispersing the gravel in
the compound.Platoon as moving as it could be with its great
musical score was nothing other that glorifying a war that most
Americans didn't want or need and was mostly about smoking weed
and bullying.Any war film that includes black and white and
naval vessels looks like a kid playing with an Airfix model in a
bathtub.A lot of films including this genre never age well
.Admittedly I did enjoy the series band of brothers and the
Pacific but also hacksaw ridge, hurt locker, war horse, deer hunter
and one that always gets overlooked which is the Railway man.

Another film I didn't see mentioned was A Bridge Too Far - might
have missed it though. Also Courage Under Fire - really liked
       that.
Since we are a tank clan, lets not forget The Beast, and just
seen info on Lebanon and The Battle of Neretva - both of which i
havent seen but will be soon!!!
Lotsa films named, and I keep going back to Das Boot when trying
to determine which one I believe is the best. Hard to top that
emotional roller coaster of grit and pain as a top war movie.

Thanks Mikal - looks good. I like watching war films from other
countries to widen my perspective of what people think of their
       countries war experiences.

Should consider checking out The Beast. Russian tank lost in the
       Afghan desert.
