WoT Clan boycott....Patch kits... June 30th
By: oxidative stres Date: June 6, 2017, 9:20 am
       ---------------------------------------------------------
We received this from Just an Ace and Pontiac Pat regarding a
proposed boycott of WoT during the weekend of June 30th due to
the introduction of patch kits (temporary for now, but why did
WG go through the effort for something temporary). This will
break the game and is a blatant money grab (at least that is
what I believe) and a move to pay to win. This boycott is
voluntary, obviously... but we have, as a clan, decided to back
       this initiative.....
Here is the message from JustAnAce....
I'll just go ahead and post the message I have been sending to
clan leaders. And if you haven't gotten it then it is because I
       am only human
Hey, I am reaching out to you because you are a leader and I am
looking for the support of you and your following in an effort
to get Wargaming to do a better job at listening to their
       community.
What I propose is that we boycott World of Tanks for the weekend
of June 30 and take a stand against the inclusion of the Patch
Kits. Adding health regeneration in any form completely changes
the dynamic of the game. If this becomes permanent the Meta of
the game will be forever changed. Nothing this game-changing has
ever been introduce into WoT, so if we let this slide, then
who's to say that WG won't introduce more changes that turn this
game into a mere shell of its former self. WoT has been going to
shit for that last two years and it’s only going to keep getting
worse unless we, as a community, do something drastic. It's only
a matter of time before they do something really stupid, like
introduce a crew skill that gives you health regeneration or
something that completely breaks the game. I think that the
weather maps and now the patch kits are a prime example of the
new creative direction WG is taking the game in.
This is about standing up to WG as a community and ensuring that
our voices are heard. That we do not condone the direction they
are taking this game in. Believe me, I know the patch kits will
allow for some very high damage games due to health
regeneration, but we need to look at the long term consequence
of that. If we play during the patch kit weekend, we are
supporting WG's choice to implement this whether we think so or
       not.
For Honor was boycotted for a day earlier this year by its
community because of the developer's failure to listen to
feedback and release patches to balance the combat and improve
matchmaking and connection issues. After which the developer
apologized and started working with its community.
It’s hopefully going to be the same deal here, but this needs to
be a collective effort. All manner of differences, conflicts,
and rivalries need to be set aside because this will be helping
all of us if we pull this off. In all, the addition of Patch
Kits is part of a larger problem. That is WG not giving a shit
about what any of the knowledgeable members of the community say
and spouting bullshit statistics to support their way even
though we've explained it away a thousand times over. If we do
this then we might finally convince WG to care about their
active community and implement changes that actually balance the
       game.
We need to spread this message to our players, and later to our
community. I plan on making a YouTube video announcing this
boycott, and I can add the name of your clan to the video and
announce your support. I will also include the many comments
from other players that have told me they have walked away from
the game due to WG's failure to listen to their community, as
well as the backlash the announcement of Patch Kits have caused
on the forums. In addition, if your clan has YouTubers, I
encourage you to ask them to support the boycott through their
       channels.
Once I make the video, I will post this on the forums and ask
for the support of the community. This is an opportunity for us,
the community to stand together against WG's bullshit. If we
pull this off, maybe WG will finally do a better job at
listening to us, and we can get the improvements to both
standard and competitive play that this game deserves. IE 2 flag
assault, TD balances, other tank balances.
If you and your clan are willing to support the boycott, please
let me know, and I will get back to you on when I plan on
creating the thread and posting the video.

This quote from Pontiac Pat sums it up....
It makes top tier more powerful, it makes heavies and highly
armored TDs more powerful, it makes platoons more powerful
(focus fire neuters regen), it hurts tanks with low ammo count.
       It's just bad, bad, bad.

I hate to be "that guy" but they want to not play a free game to
show them who's boss? I understand the petition, I'd even
understand asking people not to purchase gold or buy anything
for a week, not use the new bullshit item, but what is not
playing the game going to do to them that the petition won't?

Valid points Duck. DaGeneralissimo has raised similar in our
discord chat..... For me, it as much about putting it out there
(with the "force" of many of the prominent clans) that this will
totally change how the game is played and not in a good way.
For me... I have no desire to play the game with these things in
play. Too many E100s and Mauses regenerating 20% of HP.... Screw
that..... For others it may be different... The super testers
were against it...... It will totally screw up the competitive
       side...

I am inclined to agree with Duck to some degree. A total "no
play" seems over the top and I am not sure what it gains. I can
get on board with not buying anything that weekend. Granted, we
spend silver every time we replenish ammo, etc after a match. On
another note, who knows the ratio of players that in clans
versus not in clans? I would thing that the clans would be much
weaker from a headcount perspective but higher in the games
       played per player ratio.
At the end of the day, I struggle with being told what to do
because a group thinks it is the right thing to do. I need to
review further. Know this, CamDaddy is going to do what CamDaddy
       wants to do.
I see that this instance is console only but do they have a plan
to implement on the PC as well as all console platforms?
Just one more stir of the pot- I have a hard time trying to
differentiate this patch initiative from our current health
packs and repair kits. Current First Aid kits and repair kits
are optional purchase as well and should be considered just like
these patch kits would be. Hmmm!

Cam... Everyone should do what they are comfortable with.
Hell..... nobody listens to me anyways.....
From my stand point, they are different because the
repair/fire/first aid kits are "tank independent" in that they
work exactly the same way and give the exact same benefit to a
tank, whether it is an E100 or Loltractor...
Consumables as well are tank independent, but crew skill
dependent, so do not weigh or throw the balance of one
particular class/ type of tank (heavy) with respect to the
       others.
       The patch kits give a blanket 20% HP regen. T29 (1250) v. E75
       (1920) v. T54 (1650 hp) in essence gives the T29 -- 250 extra
hp, the E75 -- 380 extra hp. so heavily favors high tier tanks,
which already have a big advantage, and give a bigger advantage
       to heavies v. mediums (380 v. 330)

This concept is used in World of Warships as repair party and I
feel that it does not overly impact the game FYI. The 20th is a
evaluation period to get feed back from the community "Patch
Kits will be awarded to players for free on login daily and are
only available during the weekend of June 30. When Monday comes
following that weekend, the Patch Kits will be removed. Once the
event ends please give us your thoughts. More information of
this event to come." Per WG. If I boycott how can I give a
honest evaluation and opinion of whether I like this change or
not. As of now I am taking the word of the super testers that I
will hate this change to the game. What if I actually like it?
If I am to make a informed decision I will need to play on the
weekend of the 20th. I feel that a better use of clan unity is
to point out the areas of concern have the clan member play and
make a informed decision, if it is concluded that the changes
are not wanted direct clan member to a petition stating that the
proposed changes are not wanted. Non clan members could also be
direct to a petition to give added validity to it by increasing
the number of people signing. I feel that if all the clans and
their members bring an argument of we took a real and objective
look and we don't like it and then join together to oppose the
change it would be a stronger statement than we are just pissed
off individuals and refuse to even try it. Just my :twocents:
