I have been searching for a bit after the talk of what saw
combat and what didn't and was surprised to read the small
number of Tiger 1's that actually took place in the battle
....... I ran across a forum discussion that claims 2 units that
had tigers were in the ardennes at that time , one never saw
combat , and the other the schwere Panzerkompanie "Hummel" was
assigned to schwere Panzer-Abteilung 506 .The 506 had a grand
total of 8 tigers during the battle , compared to 47 Tiger II's
. One Tiger was damaged during the battle and destroyed by the
crew . The unit stayed with the 506 until Feb of 1945 then
became an independent unit for the rest of the war .
If true , and it does seem this guy knows what he speaks of , I
found it kinda interesting , and it does point out how unlikely
an Allied tanker would ever come across a Tiger tank in general
       during battle .

Yeah. But I'll bet the feeling is the same when a RU251 driver
round a corner on Himmelsdorf and finds a fully loaded Deathstar
50m in front of him! :rolf:
