I'm really impressed, given the small size of our fleet, how
quickly the starbase is coming together...

Yep, coming along well. Running five toons doing nothing but
grinding fleet marks helps..rofl. Might start to slow down
though, since the dilithium requirements are going to shoot up,
but if everyone is contributing what they can, we should get a
tier five eventually.
Don't forget if you run across someone in-game that would be a
good fit, get them into the fleet. See if they also play World
of Tanks as well.

Corbantis,
I'm deaf as you know so a lot of games where hearing is an
issue, I can't play. What's everybody's take on this, will not
being able to hear be an issue? Just be honest with me guys, I
appreciate honesty. If I can, I will help.
Also, is this part of that Star Trek Online download freebie? I
don't have it but have seen it, and will download it if you guys
think its something I can do and help with.
Thanks,
Carpy

The game is free in the Xbox store. Don't know if not hearing is
a detriment in-game or a plus, as the game I believe doesn't
have a voice chat function. It does however have a multi-channel
chat box. You just have to make that sucker big so you can read
it.
The only issue might be if you are doing ground missions with a
team - but then again you have the chat window. I can't read the
blasted thing unless I'm sitting close to the TV like I was at a
computer monitor. Anyone else who plays can they chime in on
this and the chat box readability?

Yes make the chat box as big as you can simply due to most of
us having poor eyesight.:old:
But really there is no absolute reason a hearing impaired person
could not play. All in game cues are both audio and visual.

To be honest, I kind of ignore the chat box altogether since it
is so small. Didn't even realize you could up-size it. I guess
the only potential issue with increasing the size is it takes up
more of your "playing" space.
Carpi, being deaf definitely won't hurt you in various missions
since all the dialog is shown on pop-up boxes (The voice acting
and mouth-sync is pretty bad in some cases anyway).

Joe, any idea how close we are to actually being able to buy
some fleet ships?

We can buy fleet ships now. However, it is tied to five things:
1)The amount of resources we have provisioned the shipyard. I
plopped down 200,000 dilithium Sunday into shipyard quick
provisioning (the 30 minute project), thinking I could buy some
ships. I can, but I need one more fleet module.
2) Available ships are unlocked per tier of Shipyard. Also,
there are some ships that could be unlocked, but we need to
finish the spire.
3)Fleet modules - you will need these before you can build any.
The cost is listed on the ship vendor in the Starbase.
4) Fleet credits - Ships aren't cheap.
5) Number of ships that the shipyard can produce is limited to
our provisioning. The more resources we pump in, the more we can
build. Currently, we can only build five Tier 5 Fleet ships -
which I believe is the Escort. Will check it tonight.
Note: If you are buying keys to open lock boxes, you will
possibly get chits for Dilithium mining. You can exchange these
at the Mining asteroid for the vendor on the upstairs gangway.
Each chit converts to 2,500 or so dilithium - you have two
options - one option is to get the one for fleet projects, the
other for your reputation projects. Converting these goes into a
pool that doesn't draw from your character's dilithium
stockpile. That's how we've managed to move up so fast. I
converted 350 of these to fleet project resources, not knowing
what the heck these were for. So that's why no one has really
had to contribute any of this material to the builds. Running
low on it now lol.

Thanks for the responses guys. I'll go ahead and give it a shot,
maybe I can help with the base and the Fleet. If not, heck - its
free, I'll just delete it.

Go to social and fleets and do a search for OFF. I think you
have to finish the tutorial (first set of missions) to be able
to join a fleet because you have to align with the Federation
and you can't do that till you finish the tutorial.
I am gradually finding my way. Whenever I acquire something I
check with our fleet page and see if I can contribute it
somewhere. Right now I have a lot of raw material resources but
not sure how to get them into the fleet. Stuff like rare gases
and minerals and such.
