I was looking forward to the Fleet Variants of some of the
starships, but unless I'm mistaken, the only way to get Fleet
Ships is to buy Fleet Consoles (I believe four of them) and the
only way to get Fleet Consoles is to use real money.
Please correct me if I'm off on this....

Yep you have to buy fleet modules - but you can convert the
dilithium you mine or obtain in the missions into Zen currency
via the Di-lithium exchange , so you won't have to spend cash.
Did that for the lock box keys when they went on sale. That's
why I ground three additional toons (very fast if you add them
to the fleet - do the fleet action PVE two or three times and
you're up to lvl ten in no time. Then go mine dilithium. Not to
mention additional fleet marks to help build up the Starbase.

So what I would do is mine and save up the refined dilithium -
then when they do a pre-Christmas sale, buy the modules. We
still need to work on the Starbase a bit before we get Shipyard
I status unlocked, but if everyone can pitch in, we should have
it sometime next month.
Also, If you see any good prospects out there to join the fleet,
let us know. They don't have to play WOT, but its encouraged so
they can have access to the forum and Facebook.

I'm on right now? I'm at work. If you see me running solo, just
shoot me a party invite. I'm basically just farming fleet marks
with my four toons, mining, and working on getting energy
credits.
