Do you keep track of your stats?

I realise stats aren't important to everyone, and they aren't
that important to me in the grand scheme of things, but I do use
them to see if I'm getting better @ tanks.
Probably because of my science and engineering background I'm
quite anal about keeping track of them (can't spell 'analysis'
without 'anal' ).
To do this I have a simple Excel sheet where I enter my stats
every day or so. It has conditional formatting so that it shows
improvements in green and backward steps in red so that I can
get a quick handle on how I'm doing.
One thing I've found is that it is a real driver to make me play
smarter. I hate seeing lots of red entries so I try and stop
that happening. Another thing is that, when I'm sure I've been
cursed with 'Team Stupid' all day, my results usually tell me it
wasn't as bad as I thought. Finally, it helps prove that event
weekends bring out the window-lickers and can ruin your W/L,
while not hurting your DCR or KD too much.
How about you guys. Anyone do something similar, or is it just
me?

I try not to look at them too much because I'm always on the
stupid team as you put it, though sometimes I feel like the
leader regrettably, why I looked to join here. Believe me i have
been tainted by the cod mentality lol. Just wish to break over
55% victory and 35% survivability. And yes the window lickers
are in full force these past few weekends. My stats are below
average f anyone can tell me if those are even achievable at
this point

I only look at mine much like you: to see if I'm getting better.
And while I'm certainly anal when it comes to being clean, I
don't track them quite like you do.
You also have to know what stats to look at -- damage is the key
thing in the game, but it depends on what types of tanks you
play. A lot of arty usually equals a higher damage ratios, while
lights will bring it down, for example.
Kills are good, too, as that shows you're taking out potential
guns pointed your way, as does your hit ratio, which shows you
take good shots. But, again, tank type can affect that, too
(e.g., arty will have a lower hit %).
Another good one to look at: Base capture vs. base defense
points. IMHO, having higher defense points is key, as it shows
you're willing to go back and help the team by doing the dirty
work.
The most pointless stat: Win ratio. Being on Team Clinically
Stoopit is just too common to give that much weight. That being
typed, my highest win percentages are in the tanks I do best in.
Your mileage may vary, of course ...

You know with PHP and MySQL you could just parse your stats from
the WoT page and then display the data in graphs/charts. That
would be cool, to see your K/D trend up/down based on the tanks
your playing that week.
That being said, I ignore stats on a game like this. If my team
beats you on the map, we were better that map regardless of what
the stats were. Im generally more concerned with my team
winning, than my personal stats.

I know there are ways to scrape the data from the stats page,
but my code-fu doesn't extend to it (old school Turbo Pascal to
Delphi programmer here), hence my manual method. It's not a
chore anyway as it gives me something to do when having coffee
when I get to work. Takes a minute or so.
I just like to confirm that I'm getting better and not wasting
my time banging my head against the big steel box they keep the
RNG in.

I'm with TKE, especially about base defense.

I don't track my stats per session. I do look at my state page
after every session though. I'm mostly concerned with winning
percentage and avg exp per battle and these same numbers on
specific tanks.
Feel free to share the spreadsheet you made.
I know others downplay win %, but for me it is the most
important stat. I don't want to get into a whole thing about
why, but my opinion is that you CAN have an impact on the
outcome of most of your games played.

I have a spread sheet for my stats and also one that outline the
tanks stats so I don't have to look them up as I want to start a
line, doesn't do much for play but soon the two will mesh and
I'll have a better idea of where I play best and fit in as far
as how I play. I love baseball, stats are high priority in many
aspects.

Due to the link with many US sports being stat heavy, I wouldn't
be surprised to find that Americans would be more likely to
employ stat tracking than Brits like myself. Mention statistics
to the average Brit and they're likely to start thinking
36-24-36 or something similar. It's not something that most will
be familiar with and is probably reflected in the UK's plummet
down international education tables. :palm:

I don't look too closely at my stats. For one thing my son was
using my account for quite some time when we first downloaded
it.
I will from time to time pull up stats and compare mine to
another players. Just to see if I'm keeping up with OFFers, or
to see how I compare to that dufus that sent me hate mail after
a run.
