I ventured away from the safety of my home server (EU) last
night and washed up on the shores of NA East.
I was hoping to bump into some OFFers but didn't see anyone.
It was late at night for me (2230 to 0130 UK time) so I wasn't
thinking straight and, in retrospect, I would have been better
off seeing who was online and sending a few FRs out.
I'll be on later today (late PM/evening probably so that should
be AM/early PM US time) if anyone is around.
If you see me invite me in, as I don't usually like to gate
crash (reserved old Brit rather than brash overconfident tween).
I'm not much of a talker until I get to know folks, but I don't
need much prompting to see what plan (if any) is in play.

I'm usually asleep by then, but I'll see how long I last.
Last night was a very late one for me, so I'm playing catch-up.
I know old farts are supposed to need less sleep, but I'm not
experiencing that so far.
Might have to start having afternoon naps. My wife swears by
them :grin:

I used to hesitate about joining in parties because I was the
new kid on the block. :child:
I knew that most of the clan had been platooning with each other
for a while so they were more comfortable with each other.
I would send a message to see if there was room for me to jump
in and then I would wait for an answer, which sometimes came
immediately others a little later due to them being in battle.
NOW.... I just jump in. There are times that I'm still a little
hesitant but it is less now than when I first joined. I have met
some great guys and by jumping in there have been a few that I
hadn't platooned up with or weren't on my friend list. :beer:

So basically jump into some parties we're all pretty happy to
meet with new members platoon up or point you in the right
direction if we're full. Once you've done it the first time
there'll be no looking back!! See you on the field.

I just jump in and see what's going on, obviously I'm there to
play tanks and platoon with folks, but also get to know the
peoples who's posts I read and are reading mine. The way I see
it is pretty simple, I joined a clan to get help and take my
game to the next level and learn from folks that have this down.
A lot of days I'm just trying to get my tanks tiered up and feel
like no one wants to go through this grueling task with me, and
I was wrong. Just start adding folks, anyone, doesn't matter and
when you see them online join their party, before you can say hi
you usually get a very welcoming (insert your name) what's up
from everyone there and you will get platooned up PDQ. I think
if folks aren't friendly to new people they are not going to say
anything and you'll not have to worry about getting teamed up
with them. Well, that's long enough for now, I think you get my
drift.

Thanks go to walshaland for the party invite last night, and all
the OFFers in the party..
Apart from a few games with my son, that was the first time I've
platooned up.
How was it for me?....well, I found it quite confusing with all
the crosstalk across different platoons (some of which were not
in the same battles) and it was hard matching names (XBL and
real) to voices. The fog will clear pretty quickly though, I
suspect.
I wasn't sure where I should be though. It's way different to
lone-wolfing and I spent too much time wondering where everyone
else was. I know to point my gun at the reds and pull the
trigger, but there's more to it than that. Until I find my
feet, if you see me in your platoon/party, just tell me where
you want me. If you want me covering your back, pushing around a
flank or baiting a stubborn red dug in like a tick behind a
rock, just let me know.
Platooning certainly requires a different skill-set that I
hadn't appreciated before. It'll be fun developing that part of
my game.

Greyza, that's how I felt the first time, all confused on who is
who and what not. I never know if I should ask "where do you
want me" or just play like I normally play and try to cover
platoon mates ass in trouble...I'm still finding my way as well.
Glad you got to get in and have some fun.

Maybe it would be better to start new members or folks who have
not platooned before in a 3 man platoon/party and not the 8 man
party co launch
I can see with all the unfamiliar voice it would be confusing on
who is green or red.
