Gas Grill or Charcoal...which do you prefer?
By: AaaaaaandImDone Date: July 1, 2016, 9:04 am
       ---------------------------------------------------------
I brought this up in another topic and was curious on what
people think, with this being one of the biggest barbeque
weekends of the year. I use to use charcoal, but have switched
to gas, I find it simpler and less time consuming. I will use a
sea salt rub on my steak/sirloin/porterhouse/rib-eye and that's
it....... with 2 very active boys and the beach so close to us,
I find my time is better spent taking them here, there and every
       where.
Do not get me wrong I enjoy a good barbeque, but when
someone else is doing the cooking.
If anyone has a good marinade recipe, I would appreciate it
if you could share, as that is something I have always wanted to
       delve into.
Happy 4th of July to all OFF members, remember the troops this
       weekend and be safe!

       Depends.
Chicken boobies, burgers, brats all go on our Weber Genesis.
Real BBQ -- ribs, pork shoulder, whole chickens, etc. -- get
       smoked on the Weber kettle.

Also: get Steven Reichlen's (sp?) books. I'm on my phone so
can't really link, and work has blocked this place. :sceptic:
Will post up my rib rub recipe this weekend.

My Weber Summit has an infrared and a wood box for smoking.
       Delicious!

:lies: You said it was a secret! Or it would be
missing some secret ingredient or something. :troll: :rolf:

Well...I might leave out a few things. But that's just so
y'all can customize it the way you want. Pinky swear.
       :troll:
Seriously, though, I took the base of it from Reichlen and have
       tweaked it from there.

Webber gas grill for me. I love the ability to better control
temperature. I use a smoker for things like ribs and such.....
       Anything low and slow.
I also recommend the Raichlen books. I have 3 of them and he
has a great book called "Rubs, sauces, and marinades"?? I
believe. It is my bible. My go-to store marinade if I don't
have the time or ingredients on hand is any of the Stubbs brand.
By far the best and not overly salty but full of flavor.

Well, I have my own and original, 7 pepper (not chilli pepper)
       steak/ribs marinade.
Speaking of marinade, I should try orange marmalade ribs soaked
in Grand Marnier and smoked with dried tangerine peel.
