       Carpenter Ants...
By: AaaaaaandImDone Date: June 22, 2016, 10:42 am

I believe I now have carpenter ants. Just after the tropical
storm, I am now noticing these piles of debris at some of my
floor board trim. My inital research has led me to believe I
will need to hire someone to do an initial treatment and go on a
monthly plan, welcome to Florida! The home remedies seem dicey,
but am will to do anything to protect hearth and home.
Any suggestions or tips and tricks? I have read that removing
plug and switch plates and putting diatomaceous earth in there
will cut off travel routes. Also, I need/must kill the
queen/queens, if I just kill the workers, these little bitches
       will just make more.
I have a couple companies coming out to do a "free" inspection,
but any help or pointers would be appreciated......first the
roof leak, now this, good grief!............but I would not
change anything, love the house and the neighborhood and so does
       my wife and the boys!
Thanks in advance! Happy tankin', you glorious jackasses!

Good Luck. I have carpenter bees eating parts of my house.
Haven't found anything yet that will stop them.

Honestly, though -- carpenter ants are a bitch. You'll
definitely need someone to come out and treat it.
Here in Missouri we get sugar ants, which are easy to take care
of with some Terro (which is just awesome stuff).
       Best of luck!

My house was invaded by black carpenter ants. I set off foggers
in the attic and garage that killed a lot of them but didn't
solve the problem. I called Truly Nolen and they found two
nests. I hope you don't have termites.

Call Ripley. She's good at taking care of bugs.
Diatomaceous earth is a good idea. I use it to control ants and
those big Palmetto bugs as well.

We have those! They burrow into our deck and not much you can do
       to stop them beforehand.
However ... I did find that waiting for them to crawl into their
hole, then pumping some Gorilla Glue into it, solves if after
the fact. (Yes, I am a horrible tree hugger for doing that, but
       screw 'em.)
Also, if anyone has wasp/hornet issues, get these. Seriously.
       They work.
