I would be up for this as the scout/protector. I've not owned
an arty in over a year.....until I picked up a Russian last
night for the op they have going!

Duckie, this could be the beginning of a bee-yootiful
friendship.
I'm thinking since German Mondays are pretty much kaput, maybe
we could try Monday night Arty Party? I only have up to Tier
VII arty myself

Well, OK - it was, but not for why you think.
I've heard a number of rants over the past couple days, but when
you were talking about the reasons you had for preferring to
platoon without arty I thought you had the first valid point on
the "boo arty" side of the debate that I'd heard.
Seemed like the best idea was to drag this out of chat and into
a forum where we could talk about it a bit and make sure we
didn't have any unintended consequences (like people leaving)
from our (mostly goodnatured) complaining.

To be honest, I like running Arty, that are often pallet
cleansers for a rough couple rounds. They are challenging , if
you use them to anticipate movement, I experience great glee
wiping out a poor red with a well calculated guess shot, and
when green sucks and they fail, I tend to to play them like a
TD, just the reload sucks if you don't make the big hit or a
good hit and set them on fire.
The ribbing I have witnessed as been in good humor,
As arty I find it my responsibility to communicate to your team
they having mimics or not, call out on movement, targets and
firing locations and reload count downs, I find the team
actually gets a lot better at spotting and playing smarter in
general.
As arty you have a better overall view of play, so call it.

I bitch about arty all the time, and have even rage quit. I've
never accussed an arty of causing us to go up a tier or three,
that's just not how the game works. I do feel arty is
over-modeled here, with their eagle eye ability to track moving
tanks, but it is part of the game. To the extent of my bitching,
that about sums up my point.
Besides, if I bitch now, Gunbuggy can just remind me of calling
"Help" for the green arty :)

People are going to bitch. Whether it is about Arty or running a
light in a platoon because they feel or want to point to
propensity to be pulled into an upper tier match. They are your
tanks! Run me all you want! Or, smoke if you got em! Whining

I do more cussing about b*tch ass light tanks and bat chats than
I do arty. Nothing more aggravating than a wuss ass light
getting behind your TD or arty and slowly killing you like a
little piranha. That said, I love it when I'm "that b*tch ass
light" :troll:
I used to like arty as much as any other tank when I first
started playing (right after the xbox launch), but the amount of
arty un-friendly maps and lack of versatility added with the
general disregard for arty overall made me mostly quit playing
it. I actually consider arty a platoon tank because you need
someone committed to spotting and helping track the opfor to
truly be successful. I don't see a lot of players ever try to
track their target, even when there are greenies near by. So
playing arty can be a real challenge, and no it's not "point and
click". I miss more damn shots because of elevation changes
where I'm shooting and one shot goes long so I adjust and next
hits right were it's supposed to... :shit: .... I cuss myself
as arty more than I ever do another arty player.
So yeah, arty always welcome. Don't hate the player, hate the
game.
