overtrain a crew ?????

I always hear people talking about over-training there crews?
I honestly do not understand this? Can someone please explain
the mechanics of this? I have tried this but it never seems to
work well for me.
How do you know when you have over-trained a crew enough to
move to the next tank?
If you say finished training a skill on a crew and you decide
to over-train for the next skill, you have a ( + ) showing that
a new skill can be applied. How do you know how much you
over-train a crew before moving them to the next tank? If you do
not apply the new crew skill, you can not see the progress bar
of XP earned for the next skill or perk.
Or am I not looking at this incorrectly and my thought process
on this is screwed up?

Happy to lend my recent learning...
Once a crew has reached 100% you have the option to select a
skill. Don't select that skill...instead, just keep the crew in
the tank and keep grinding. You will continue to accrue XP even
though you've not selected the skill. Once you've accrued more
than 25% excess (which does not have any indication - it's a
feel thing) you can move that crew into your next tank
(selecting the 75% option) and have it fully trained up to 100%.
Hopefully that makes sense...

I wish I could remember which video it was I saw that mentioned
keeping the crew in the tank for "xxx" amount of XP beyond
unlocking the next tank. You could probably figure it out as I
think the crew xp is a set amount like 5% of total XP or .5% or
something along those lines. I haven't kept track of it myself
but I did this recently with a crew where I had it in one of my
premium tanks between assignments for a few weeks playing here
and there and had enough to cover the 25% plus a little more
toward the next skill.
To be honest, I've gotten to the point that when I get close to
unlocking the next tank I just finish out the skill I'm on and
don't select a new one so that the extra 25% and the next tank
up hopefully fall inline with one another.
But if you want preciseness then maybe someone here can verify
that 5% of total XP and then you don't have to wing it.
sorry for the long winded answer. hope it helps.

Before you move a crew to a new tank, get them trained up on a
skill to 100%.
Then, my suggestion is to run about 12-15 games in a good crew
training premium (tiers II - VII tend to be best due to
increased crew training modifiers at lower tiers). At that
point, you can move them to the new tank for silver, yet they'll
be at 100% trained.

Thank you for your response. Looks like I am just being
impatient moving the crew to soon, being frustrated that I can
not see my crews progress.

You do have to be patient, but it really does pay off when you
are moving up to the next tank in the line - especially if you
don't have the free XP to upgrade the modules immediately (stock
tanks stink bad enough, let alone having a 75% crew in them).

If you happen to be in Super Test you can transfer the crew in
the ST program to see if they are far enough along.

"If" they happened to mirror the live acct that week you could
get a more accurate idea, but they don't always do that and it's
done a couple days ahead of testing I believe so keep that in
mind if trying that.

My IS8 is painful right now because of this but I'm training the
real crew in lower tier tanks atm, just have a cheap crew in
there for the motherland op ( thankfully that op is over now
lol)
