Battle Calling Strategy Thread
By: delp5117 Date: April 11, 2016, 3:11 pm
---------------------------------------------------------
Hello,
Given that we are kicking off the newest set of team practices
and battles, I thought it might be worthwhile to have a place to
post links or discuss concepts around battle calling (team tank
compositions, battle strategies, etc). Another thread with
post-mortems from battles against other clans might be really
useful for breaking down results, providing scouting reports for
future match-ups, etc?
To kick things off, I've attached a link from Rocket Brain
Surgeon on 7/42 battles (5 tier 8 tanks + 2 tier 1's), who has
done some good tank review articles on WotLabs. The Tier 1's
make this a little different from the tier 8 5v5's we fought the
other night, but some of the general principles are the same
(what tanks are good to use, flanking strategies - main force
vs. scouts, back-capping vs. killing, etc).
Sorry if someone else has already started something like this
before here or on the companion site...
Del

The 7/42 was abandoned in favor of the 7/54 and yes, this has
been discussed/debated/posted before, but +1 for the newbie
initiative though.

No problem. I know I am late to the party, but would like to
anything I can to help the captains/OFF teams compete and win.
Are the inter-clan battles set up through the training rooms, as
well (where they can see your comp)?

Yes. We can all see what everyone is bringing to the table.

Thanks for the link Delp. Had not seen that one and it clarified
some things for me. I watched the video and when he was on
Steppes, and pushed in his 13 90 and got hung out. I felt a
flashback of pain from the same thing happening so many times to
myself when faced with an over match advantage. Its something we
have definitely been trying to work on as a clan and have been
slowly improving on.

Thanks Delp! As a platoon novice, I got something from that.
What's old is new to me!

As CROC pointed out, the format of the battles is dated, but
some of the core concepts translate generally to organized play.
Before I left for my PC WoT hiatus, there wasn't even a training
room mode on XBOX, so I'm hopeful that they will give us
something like Strongholds style "Skirmishes" at some point on
the horizon (usually 7v7 at tier 6, 10x10 at tier 8, or 15x15 at
Tier 10). Instead of having to pay to play in a training room,
you get base credits +50% and base silver +5 or 10%!
