25/2 -- Worth it?
DIR By: TKE919

---------------------------------------------------------
After giving it some thought over the weekend and checking my
stats, I've come to learn that I'm so very much better at this
game when playing the sniper role. I mean, like a LOT better.
And it's a belief bolstered by my TD stats (honestly -- check
'em and you'll probably agree). So while I'll still have all
classes of tanks, I have decided to really focus on the TDs and
other snipe-worthy tanks (e.g., the Tiger I) as I move up tiers.
With that in mind, I was interested in the 25/2 that is on sale
this week. I have it unlocked and, thanks to the sale, plenty of
silver to get it and even put on some equipment.
My concern: How effective is this thing? It it worth the grind?
Does not being able to mount the 105 make it a dog not worthy of
its tier?
I ask because, quite frankly, I can't ever remember seeing one
in a match—I see T-28s and even T-95s fairly regularly, but
rarely see Protos and T-30s. But I also don't run higher tiers
all that often so maybe they are more common than I think.
[/size]Note that I don't mind turret-free TDs, will be going up
both U.S. and German TD lines (and the Tiger) and, eventually,
the Russians (but saving that for a bit -- need something to
look forward to!). So I do plan on running all TD lines --just
not sure if I should put my efforts into this one first. Anyway,
would love some thoughts on the 25/2 and its capabilities.

:salute:

You read my mind. I looked at Mighty Jingles review, which
wasn't really stellar. I am also interested in what others
think.

I just reacquired my T25/2 and I like running it... the gun is
punchy, but has low damage... you have to choose your targets
carefully... especially in high tier matches. It also helps to
know the weak spots on your opponents. Your quick on the field,
not hellcat quick but your no sloth... and has a decent stealth
rating.

For equipment I went with camp, binos and gun rammer. Hope this
helps.

The 25/2 wasn't one of my favorite tanks, but I love the
Prototype and am looking forward to the T30. The prototype is a
beast. You just need to remember to turn your tank to the enemy.
It's real easy to just turn your turret and leave your side
open. I have the straight 28 and the prototype and I love them
both.

I'm of the opinion the Hellcat and 25/2 should be flipped - with
the HC being the Tier 7 and the 25/2 being the Tier 6. After
playing the HC, the 25/2 will be a bit of a letdown - kind of
like moving from the Cromwell to the abomination that is the
Comet (Though not nearly as bad).
That being said, the 25/2 is not a bad TD. It has decent speed
and mobility and, once you get the top on it, can take an
occasional hit (It's still squishy tho). The gun hits
surprising hard if you know where to shoot and the grind isn't
that bad (IIRC there is only one package before you start
climbing to the T28Prot).
Like Oatmeal, I also run Camo, Rammer, and Binocs.

Worth is always in the eye of the beholder.
Equipment in all tds should be binos camo rammer except t28 and
95 which should include spall liner replacing probably the camo
net.
The 25 is fine, just play it like the jackson. No armor pick
your shots. Not my favorite td. But the 28proto and t30 are
both excellent.....I am still trying to figure out the e4.
So is it worth it? You either need to grind it or convert xp
to get through it so worth is not the words I would use. It
is probably the dog of the line. If I had limited garage space
I would not keep it there are much better tds at teir 7.
Jagrpather and su152 come to mind

I watched a few video reviews of it, and think I might pull the
trigger, though I'm going to check the packages first -- the 90
mm is the same one on the T-29 and M6; wonder if that'll already
be available for no XP. And I've been studying weakspots in the
higher tiers, as my T-29 keeps seeing tier IX matches with just
the 90mm. So that'll help ...
:sceptic:
What I couldn't find were any videos on the T-25 AT (the
non-turreted tier VII). That kind of surprised me. Guess it's
just "meh" for many, especially compared the next one in line
(T28).
Also: Will be focusing on getting my JPIV ground so I can get
the JPanther next. (Odd thing is that I've had monstrous games
in the thing, followed by streaks of absolute suckitude.) Anyone
with a JPIV wanting to go wreak havoc, lemme know.
