Type 59 - What's it good for?

Hype 59!
Does this thing have any wheels as a comp tank?

Don't think so. It has less armor than a T-54 and the gun is
100-110 mm which is less than the T-34-3.
I'm curious is this going to be a 12,000 gold or 15,000 gold
tank? We'll have to see later on this week. If its a three day
sale starting this weekend, then I won't be getting it.

I'm in need of a crew trainer, maybe this one is it?

As a comp tank? Probably not, as it's strong but not that
strong.
I played it a bit on test, and here are my thoughts:
1. It's got okay, but nowhere near great, mobility. The T-54 is
way, way faster and more maneuverable. Sure, it's faster than a
Pershing, but not by tons.
2. The turret is it's strength -- get hulldown and only
higher-tiers or those spamming premium are likely to pen you.
Now, this is usually an issue with Chinese tanks, but ...
3. It doesn't seem to suffer from the "GLORIOUS REVOLUTION NEEDS
NO GUN DEPRESSION!" mindset of most Chinese tanks. It's still
not U.S. levels, but not horrible in that regard.
4. The gun is meh. The pen is lowish, and the aim time is really
bad. Not exactly a sniper, and you're gonna have to carry prem
rounds. Which is an issue because ...
5a. My IS-3 ate through them from every single angle (BL-9 don't
care; BL-9 don't give a fuq). Seriously, though, tier VIIIs and
IXs will have few issues penning the hull except at extreme
angles.
5b. I also ran a T-54 ltwt with my best crew in it to see how it
would do. Result: Clowned the hell out of two different players
(Agent22 and someone else, lol). I did, however, bounce except
when at the side and back.
6. It only sees tier IXs, so that's a HUGE plus. Tier Xs would
eat it alive.
Basically, it's a great tank, but nowhere as good as some of the
hype -- AND I have no clue if it's the pre- or post-nerf version
of the PC tank.
Now, that being typed ...wotoff... the first game in it on test,
with just a 100% crew (I don't have any good Chinese crews), I
found myself at about 2/3rds health against three other 59s --
one at about half health, one a one-shot, and one at full
health.
Rekt them all (including Purcellmeister, if I remember
correctly; sorry 'bout that, dude :troll: :gunning:
 ). Ended with nearly 4k damage and three kills, and
bounced a stoopit amount. Granted, it's Supertest, but that
showed me that it's no slouch in the right situation. And given
that I do want to go up the Chinese line and would like more
than the Type-64 as a trainer, I just might be getting one.
I do imagine, however, you're gonna see tons of people running
powerful VIIIs and IXs hunting these things when they are
released.
tl;dr -- Good tank, but probably not as good as the hype; 8/10
will probably get one depending on price (if it's 10k+ at the
low end, they can kiss my grits)

Great write-up, TK! Will probably get this to have another
Chinese trainer.

Yeah, they had me at 'premium' and 'tank'
But...TK's warning about the A32 has so far kept me off that
one!
Thanks again for the detailed write-up, Mark.
You're a trusted adviser for sure.
