don't get too cocky... I LOVE being on Himmelsdorf and seeing a
T-29 or T-32 or whatever in a "hull down" position or even
better, "Turret Down" in that alley way in front of the castle.
WIth the right tank and some careful aiming, you pop them in
their commanders hatch 3-6 times and many of them I have meet
just sit there and take it until they are killed.
If I came across being cocky it was not intentional. I've been
blown up plenty of times in every tank I own including the
T29...;) But to be more clear I try to only expose the
turret, not turret down if i can help it.
Sorry if that might have come out wrong. I don't mean "cocky"
so much to mean to be confrontational. It was really meant
more as a general admonition when taking advice.
To start, I will explain a few terms to make sure we are all on
the same page.
Hull Down = Only showing your Turret or some small part(this is
what most people say in the most general sense.
Turret Down = only showing JUST enough of the top of your turret
so that you keep things on the other side of the cover light up,
generally, that means your commanders hatch is somewhat visible
Top Down = NO PART of your tank is directly visible to the enemy
and cannot be targeted
Top Down > Turret Down > Hull Down > out in the open
Lot's of people say "go hull down and the T-29 is a beast at
bouncing shots, and that's true. My point is that any exposed
area on a tank can be targeted and hit, and especially in
CQC(close quarters combat), it's not very hard to inflict
serious damage to tanks that still allow their commanders hatch
to be visible.
Again, sorry if my wording seemed a bit off.. it was like 3 in
the morning here when i posted....

right in the enemies grill, preferably on the side away from

I've learned that if I can play the tank well when it's weak,
I'll do much better at using it once upgraded.
And THAT is an absolutely awesome attitude and good advice. I
do something similar by keeping Elite tanks and continue playing
them for a few weeks before purchasing the upgrade beyond it so
that I can further hone my skill(on the plus side, that also
allows me to continue to back silver and not constantly go broke
chasing new tanks)

heh... yea... and that's one of the problems with most internet
posts that talk about hull down. They make it seem as if you're
invincible, when you're not. It's true that most guns won't
penetrate your hull armor since it's trollishly thick, but the
commanders hatch is an exception and unfortunately, most people
who give general advice neglect to mention that fairly easy to
penetrate week spot. granted, it's not that big a deal against
most opponents at 300 meters, but in town such as Himmelsdorf
where your at 25, 50, 100 meters and the enemy has any type of
decently accurate gun(can you say AT-7?), your gonna get thumped
and it's....well surprising as you well found out...

 because my gun aint that good at going through anything.
Bought the new gun (90mm but with better pen and damage) but
haven't run it yet. Hoping to have a much better time.
>
--- End Quote ---
Gratz! yea, it will get much better.. IIRC, the first upgrade
also really adds some decent mobility to the tank that's lacking
with stock and the final package will just make this tank
totally shine in it's tier.

I may not be able to pen a T29 with my M4 derp I sure as hell
can take out modules and crew with HE. :ammo: and My konisch
still does enough damage I'll hunt them.
Looks like I'm one of the few that dislike the T29. Never
played well in it, normally lost silver with it too. Got tired
of people complaining about me finding a hull down and not
attacking and sucking up damage. so it got sold as soon as I
researched the T34.

LOL! It'll be a better brawler once I get the 105 on it. Only
need ... oh ... about 88,000 more XP. :sceptic: The 90 does
well, though, so can't really complain a whole lot ... yet.

Well, I'm having some mixed success in the thing. I did add a
rammer, vents, and toolbox which, with repair skill, should help
when sidescraping. (Speaking of which: tried this in Widepark
and did pretty damn well -- deflected a ton of shots and got a
few kills. Very nice and something I am going to continue to
practice.)
Other than that, though, the biggest issue so far is the engine
-- it is an absolute dog. Hell, I'd keep the 90mm for a while
longer if I could get the new motor first. Oh well.
Only about 20K XP for the newer turret, and another 50somethingK
for the 105.
So ... yeah. Going to be a long grind. :-)
