Camo net for artillery - worth it?
DIR By: Barytonic

Thus far my standard equipment setup for artillery has been
rammer, gun laying drive and camo net. But lately I've begun to
doubt the usefulness of that camo net. Sure, it might be useful
if an enemy is approaching and your survival depends on staying
motionless in a bush and hoping your team will kill the
intruder, but...
...how often does that actually happen? Nine times out of ten
your team is not around to protect you (or the base for that
matter). And if you want to hit anything you can't remain
motionless snce artillery as a rule do not have 360 degree
rotating turrets. So, you are relying on shotgunning the
intruder, and to make that work I think I'd rather have vents
instead of camo net.
Am I making any sense here, or is this just incoherent rambling
of a scumbag?

Obviously it depends on the arty, but in general the camo net +
camo skill + silent driving will help conceal you while moving
not just stationary. There are some camo calculators out on the
net to help you see. The M41 for instance would gain about 26.5m
of camo while moving in this scenario.

Don't forget hiding in a bush provides no camo value unless the
bush itself is behind another bush. You'd think hiding in a bush
with just the barrel sticking out should count, but it doesn't.
As for the no net vs net, depends on the equipment available for
the tank - no rammer, then I go with the net, gunlaying drive
and vents. I also make certain my arty is painted as well. Every
little bit helps.

Actually , hiding behind a single bush DOES work for your camo
value. no need for one in front of that one also. keep in mind ,
that anything you hide behind that leaves any part of your tank
sticking our , especially the barrel , negates your camo factor.
long story short...dont hide IN bushes and trees , hide directly
behind them !

I have camo paint on almost all of my "keeper" tanks, including
my most played artillery (Grille). Yes, behind bushes is where I
go if there are bushes in a convenient location - but staying
out of direct line of sight from the obvious approach angles
used by the enemy is more important. Low obstacles, folds and
dips in the ground, behind embankments...
Overall, I think I need to focus on improving my crew skills.
I'm starting on tier 6 tanks at the moment, and I still don't
have even one crew with more than two skills/perks. Grind, grind
and grind, and make some silver while doing so.

Generally, behind is where to be if the bush or set of bushes
aren't large enough to cover all of your tank. In Prok however,
there are sets of bushes which are dense enough to hide all of
your tank in which gives you concealment from all sides, not
just the front.
