Finland was a German ally.....here we go again with the history

Finland was never a supporter of Nazi Germany and only relied on
German military aid to insure its independence as a state. They
were caught between invading forces of russia and in the lapland
war fought off Nazi Germany. They more or less "used" germany .
now who needs the history lesson.....

Well, at first (1939-1940) Finland was attacked by the Soviets.
During that time we were not allied with Germans, and many
allied countries sent volunteers to help Finland. Not many such
volunteers (one of which was the late Sir Christopher Lee)
actually fought in the war though.
During the second phase (1941-1944) we were indeed allies with
Germany. I think the main reason for that alliance was to get
more weapons so we could reclaim the areas that had to be given
to the Soviets in 1940. The Finns did get those areas back, but
had to hand them over again (and then some) after the Soviets
counterattacked in the summer of 1944.
And in the last phase of the war we had to fight the Germans.
One of the peace conditions was that the remaining Germans had
to be driven out, but the Germans refused to go peacefully and
burned just about all the towns in Lapland to the ground when
retreating...
Thus endeth the lesson.
